200 view celebration

She was working on a new piece of writing for people to see. Her fingers flew over the keys as music blared around her. She slowly moved back and forth mumbling the sounds. Her black t-shirt swaying in the breeze the fan above her was generating. She paused for a bit before returning to her work.

What she didn't notice was behind her the Avengers suddenly appeared. It was odd because there was no loud noise or bright flashing light, only a soft cascading fall of pixie dust above their heads. She didn't notice as they watched her work as she sang softly. She stood up letting the music take hold of her. It started off soft but her voice slowly grew.

"Do you know what's worth fighting for, when it's not worth dying for? Does it take your breath away and you feel yourself suffocating?" she sang, her voice steadily increasing, "Does the pain weigh out the pride and you look for a place to hide? Did someone break your heart inside? You're in ruins"

She turned around, about to sing the chorus, when she noticed the Avengers staring into her. Taking a step back, she felt for her tablet that was playing the music. She turned it off, still watching the strangers. She took a deep breath and screamed, well tried to. Clint put a hand over her mouth slightly muffling her screams.

She pushed his hand away, calming down slightly. She took a deep breath before eyeing them all suspiciously. She grabbed Clint's arm forcefully and pulled him outside, the rest of the team following.

"Who the heck are you guys?" She asked, "And why the heck are you in my house?"

"Look, We are the Avengers..." Tony started. She burst out laughing at them.

"Yeah, you're the Avengers. That's as true as me being a boy. It's nonexistent" She said gasping for air.

"My lady, you must believe us." Thor butted in. She stopped laughing and stared directly at him.

"You broke into my house, stop me from screaming, and claim your some fictional characters I write about, and you want me to believe you?" She claims, stepping closer to him, "Sorry, if I don't believe. Do I wish that you guys actually exist? Yeah, it would make my life ten times better. But I'm sorry that I don't believe that men like you, or Captain America exist. I'm sorry that so many people have lied to me that I am incapable of believing a person by their words. I'm sorry that so many people think that I am a perfect and when I make a mistake they always harp on it. Finally, I'm sorry that the only time I can truly be myself, it gets stripped away by everyone including yourselves" She rants poking Thor's chest-plate. He takes a step back from her, and she slowly moves away from all of them.

She starts breathing heavily and wraps her arms around her body. She rocks on her heel and toes, looking at the ground. Her knees start to give out on her, but Tony has already run to her.

"It's okay, we aren't going to hurt you," he says while everyone looks at each other confused.

"Can't...Breathe" she mutters, shuddering slightly.

"Here," Tony says placing her hand on his chest, "Breathe with me, kid."

"Panic....Attack" she whispers, as he rubs her back trying to soothe her.

"I know, kid, god I know" He mutters.

"Please...help...I...can't...breathe," she says, still breathless

"Talk to me, what are you writing?" He asks softly.

"Reader...inserts...One-shots...Just stuff to...to calm my mind" she answers her breath getting larger.

"Ok, just keep breathing. Just like that" he instructs. Finally, her breathing slows down to a normal pace. She pulls her legs to her chest, hiding her face from view. Tony looks at her and then at the rest of the Avengers.

"Can you give us some space?" He asks them

"Bedroom all the way to your right on the hall." She tells, "As long as you're quiet, you'll be fine"

They walk away leaving Tony and the girl, who still looks shaken up.

"Sorry, bad memories" she sighs, "It's not like I am being mistreated or anything, but life really sucks right now. Doctor says it's because of the two concussions"

"Two concussions? How do you manage to do that?" He asks trying to relate to the girl.

"Soccer and a Dumb guy. How do you know what to do during a panic attack?" she questions.

"I've had them ever since the portal thing."

"Oh. So are you guys really the Avengers or just some knock-offs? I've already been damaged back enough, I really don't need one more thing to add to the list"

"I wish we were some knock-offs, but no we are the real Avengers."

"So I just yelled at the 'god of thunder'"

"Yeah, basically. Why the air quotes though?"

"I'm taking one out from Cap's book and saying 'there's only one god' that I believe in"

"So you're Christian?"

"Catholic, to be exact"

"Oh"

"We should probably go check on the guys and Nat. I don't need them trying to figure out my life story from what I have in my room"

"Would they actually be able to figure that out"

"They are master assassins, I don't doubt it"

She walked into her room, making sure that her brother or sister didn't see her. She didn't need her family to find a bunch of strangers in the house. As soon as she and Tony walked, they were met with stares and questioning looks.

"How long?" Natasha asked.

"How long...What?" She replied confused

"You're suffering at your new school, yet you always put up a mask. Half the time, your family doesn't even question it" Natasha explains.

"It's like saving the world. Sometimes it's the hardest thing you have to do, but you still give it your all. You do it for those people that look up to you. I don't question it, I just know that it's something I have to do." She hesitates for a second, "Would you hesitate to put your life on the line so that your friends can survive? Well it's the same concepts"

They look at her shocked, all unable to say something. She looks down before clearing her throat.

"We should work on getting you home, do you remember how this happened?" She asks looking around.

"Yeah, yeah sure. We were at Dr. Stephen Strange's house when something went wrong. A few seconds later we are here" Clint fills her in. She thinks for a minute before nodding. She walks to her closet and grabs a large suitcase. In it was a bunch of silver pearl-like spheres. She hands them to Bruce, starting to explain.

"They are pearls to transport me inside any world. There are just enough so that all of you can go home." She drops the spheres into their hands, "After you leave, you probably won't be able to copy the designs, so you can't come back. I'm also sending you a photo-filler" She hands Steve a black notebook about the size of a CD case, "It's our means of communicating so that you don't forget me. On it, it has my pen name Grace Handler, I can't tell you my name for safety reasons. Any questions?"

"Can we keep a picture of you?" Natasha asks.

"I'm sorry, but no. I rather have people not know what I look like so that way It doesn't influence them. The best thing you can do is write in that journal. Just tell me anything, and I'll put it in my story that way people can know the real you." She sighs and activates the pearls, "Bye guys, make sure to keep writing in the journal. Have fun saving the world"

With a shimmer of light, the Avengers left her presence leaving her to her writing. She looks around and sees that Clint dropped an arrow, which has writing on it.

See you soon, "Grace"
