A/N: 8.1k?!?!?! What?! Amazing job you guys, I'm so proud of this book and what it stands for. So you've been reading this story and the name: Liana has come up a few times. Plus why was Loki so worried about what you said in the story 'Ships '. What does he know that he doesn't want you or any of the Avengers to know? Find out Below.
It had been exactly two months since Loki had sent the Avengers to find out who they were shipped with. Two months since Steve's innocence had been crushed. Two months since Tony had discovered Tumblr. It also had been two months since the Avengers had contact from Liana. No one questioned it. She had disappeared before for months on end. The only people who seemed slightly put off were Loki and Bucky.
Loki had been acting strange ever since the woman had shown them their ships. He started to become less cocky and arrogant. He was hyper-aware of all the movement regarding interstellar travel. Often checking radars and satellites, Loki made sure that no ships came within a 1000 mile radius of Earth without being notified first. He was also going back and forth between Asgard and Earth, attending meetings about the realms.
Bucky, however, was suspicious of Loki and Liana's sudden disappearance. Bucky noticed that strands of Loki's hair were starting to grey and dark circles appeared below his eyes. He tried to bring it up with Steve, but it was no use. Steve just wouldn't listen. Bucky decided to do some deeper research on who Liana actually was. When he looked, though, there had been no information. No birth certificates. No income records. No property listed under her name. Nothing. It was as if she had never existed in the first place.
This scared Bucky slightly. Being the master assassin he was, it should have been easy to track down information about her. He had checked every place that could know something. CIA? Nope. FBI? Nah. Homeland Security? Nada. Every single organization that should have known something didn't have any information. Some didn't even have her name in their database. He eventually decided that something big was going on. Something wasn't right with Liana, but he couldn't quite place it.
"Steve, you need to see this," Bucky says, handing Steve a black tablet that was opened on a page that read FACIAL RECOGNITION DATABASE 1575-2018. Steve looked up at him confused.
"There's nothing there Buck," Steve remarks patiently. Steve had his underlining suspicions about the girl in the beginning, but he didn't have any proof to support the way he was thinking. He had decided that the best thing was to ignore the feeling he had. Now, that was coming up to haunt him.
"Exactly," Bucky explains, "She should be there. Heck, I couldn't find any information about her. She's a ghost." He takes the tablet back from Steve's hand to open a new page. He types in a few words and shows the tablet to Steve.
"Maybe she just didn't want anyone to know about her past?" Steve offers, shrugging his shoulders. Steve had a pit forming in his stomach. Buck was right, she should have been there. She should have been somewhere.
"That's what I thought," Bucky agrees, nodding quickly, "Except that wouldn't explain why Loki has been freaking out for the last few months. Liana goes missing for about 2 months. Loki started freaking out when she vanished. How do you explain that?"
Steve rolls his eyes. He knew that Bucky wasn't Loki's biggest fan, but that didn't make it alright for him to start questioning another teammate's intentions. Loki was probably stressed out over some meeting that was being held on Asgard. It wouldn't be the first time.
"Your friend's right," Loki voices behind the men. He was drinking water out of a small cup with his left hand. With his right, he ran fingers through his hair as a way to try to relieve built-up stress. He sets the glass on the table and grabbed the tablet. He tapped the screen a few times before lightly setting it down. The tablet projected a small model of the solar system into the air.
"This is a model of the last time we saw Liana," Loki explains. He taps the screen. Suddenly a purple area lit up on the space between Mars and Earth.
"This is what happened a minute after she vanished," He continues. He used two fingers to zoom into the purple area. When he zoomed to about 200%, the purple splurge began to form into a familiar spaceship. Steve felt the air cool down significantly and the room darkening. He stood up and slammed his fist down on the table. It cracked from the force. He squeezed his eyes closed and bit into his lip.
"That's the ship?" Bucky asked hesitantly.
"I'm afraid so," Loki says, sighing.
"It can't be," Steve mutters, opening his eyes. It couldn't be. They had destroyed him. They had defeated him. They...They didn't do it well enough.
"If it actually is him?" Bucky starts, walking towards Steve.
"Then we prepare for war," Steve finishes, walking away.
