The Phone Call

We woke up the next morning and my pager went off.
" already?" Mer groaned
" it's one of those days." I rolled out from underneath her. Then her pager went off and she groaned.
" why are they paging you? You aren't even on call."
" yes I am."
" wait what?"
" I wanted to surprise you. I'm coming back today."
" are you sure your ready?"
" yes."
" I love you." I hugged her
" I love you too."
We got the kids ready and drove to the hospital.
" hey Wilson!"
" dr. Grey you're back!" She chirped.
" yes and we both got paged. I need you to run my kids down to the daycare and then come find me."
" okay."
We said goodbye and ran to the ER.
" Mer?" Almost everyone asked
" yes I'm back. What do we got?"
Owen pulled me over.
" you sure she's ready to come back?" Richard, jackson, Mark, and alex were around me.
" she said she is. It's not my call."
" someone has to talk to her." Jackson said
" okay listen. You told her she can come back when she was ready. Is Amelia ready because she's back. If Meredith is ready that leave her alone." I walked away.
" Dr. Shepherd I need you over here!" Wilson yelled.
" what's up Wilson?"
" 16 year old James Morrison head lack after flipping off of a trampoline."
" get him up for a head CT and page me when it's done."
" right away."
" no no no wait doctor, let me go." He mumbled
" I'm sorry?" Wilson asked
" this wasn't an accident."
" who did this to you?"
" nobody."
" Edwards!" I yelled
" yes sir?"
" run this guys CT page me when it's done. Get him admitted and Umm restraints."
" but he said no scans." Wilson said
" okay listen. How much you wanna bet that this nobody is actually a somebody."
" what are you saying?"
" I'm saying get somebody to call child protective services."
She ran to call them. Meredith came up from behind me.
" you paged?"
" yeah I need you in surgery."
" let me see the chart."
" Derek.... Nobody pushed him over?"
" that's what he's saying."
" you know you have to call."
" already sent Jo."
" I'll go get Callie. Where's the patient?"
" getting a CT."
" okay. I'll see you in the OR."
" Yepp." I gave her a kiss.

IN THE OR:

" Derek.." Callie said
" it's a beautiful day to save lives people lets get started."
We started to cut. Before I knew it he was in v-tech.
" START COMPRESSIONS AND CHARGE TO 300! HIS BRAIN IS CLOTTING!" I yelled
As soon as we got him back we all finished what we were doing and closed up.
" sheriff." I said shaking his hand walking into the boys room.
" Derek long time no see."
" definitely. What's going on?"
" this little boy you just operated on?"
" yeah..."
" parents abuse him every time he runs away from his foster parents."
" what's the attraction?"
" depression. Knows his parents will take him out."
" that's terrible."
" yeah."
" I'll talk to the foster parents."
" your intern already did. I needed to talk to you."
" well I need to talk to them."
I went and explained everything to them. Then my phone started to ring.
" hello?" I answers
" Dr.Shepherd you have a phone call I'm going to patch you through."
" okay thank you."
" Dr. Derek Shepherd?" A male voice asked.
" yes?"
" please hold for the President of the United States."
" what?"
" Please hold for the President of the United States."
