The story with Amelia

" Amelia!" I yelled down the hallway. She kept walking. I ran up beside her and grabbed her arm.
" let go." She said
" no. What is the matter with you?"
" you're taking my job Derek. The one good thing that has happened you're taking it away again. Just like you always do."
" hold up. First of all again? I never took anything away from you. If anything I was protecting you."
She laughed " you are always supposedly protecting me. I am a grown women. Married. With kids. And you still feel the need to protect me? Derek I've been doing just fine without you."
" yeah you cleaned yourself up when you were in Los Angeles. But you weren't clean all the time. You got clean when you came for your friend Cooper. That's when Addison told me everything. That why I didn't want to do a surgery with you."
" you didn't trust me?"
" no I didn't."
" didn't or don't?"
I didn't answer
" oh my god. You think I'm not sober?"
" I didn't say that."
Amelia was yelling. Mer, jackson, April, jo, alex, bailey, Richard, owen, callie and Arizona were all huddled around. The guys from Addison's practice were here to get help with a few surgeries. They huddled around too.
" what's going on?" Addison asked
" nothing." I said
" no tell her Derek."
" addison, walk away. Now."
" no Addison stay. Now that he is back he wants my job. He doesn't believe that I am sober. He thinks I'm a danger."
" I didn't say that!" I yelled
" you practically did!"
" derek..." Addison said walking towards me.
" ADDISON I SAID STAY OUT OF IT!"
" you wanna know something?" Amelia asked
" what." I said
" I had a baby. And I lost it. It was a boy. He lived for 43 minutes and then he died."
I had tears in my eyes. " what? What are you talking about?"
" I wasn't sober back then. I met a guy who I was eventually engage too. It was bad Derek. 12 days out of work. 12 days of alcohol and drugs. One day Ryan and I decided to get sober together so we did it one more time. Except I was the only one who woke up the next morning. I went to rehab and got clean and found out I was pregnant. But happy endings don't happen to me. Derek my baby had no brain. I gave birth to a brainless baby 9 months later. A baby that I agreed to donate his organs. Do you know how small those organs were? Small Derek. They ripped my child out of my arms. Something I don't wish upon anyone. I gave birth to a brainless baby. A unicorn baby. Derek. So I'm not fragile I'm very freakin strong." We both had tears in our eyes. We all did.
" why didn't you tell me?"
" because... I was trying to protect everybody. I hurt a lot of people Derek. I know trust me. But nothing, absolutely nothing will ever hurt like a having a unicorn baby."
I nodded. " I'm sorry."
" no I'm sick of sorrys. It was my fault that this has happened to me. It was all me. Nobody shoved drugs or alcohol into me. It was my choice. So no you aren't sorry."
" Amelia.."
" Derek there is nothing you can do about it now. You weren't there."
" I would have been. I want to be there for you."
" so start now. Do what's best for me. Not for you." She walked away.
I turned towards Addison yelling through my teeth.
" why didn't you tell me!"
" she didn't want anyone to know".
" I DONT CARE ADDISON. I AM HER BROTHER. YOU CALL ME SO I CAN BE THERE FOR HER!"
" SHE DIDNT WANT YOU THERE!"
" SHE NEEDED ME THERE AND YOU KNOW IT!"
She didn't say anything.
" Derek?" Mer asked
" what."
" what's a unicorn baby."
I looked down at the floor and Addison put a hand on my shoulder.
" it's um..." But I couldn't answer.
" do you want me to?" Addison asked
I nodded my head.
" when Amelia was little, she had to be about 12. She non-stopped asked for a unicorn because they could go around and do magic. Her baby was a unicorn baby because his organs went around the world saving lives."
Nobody said a word. It was complete silence.
" I need to go talk to my sister."
