Easter Eve

" good morning beautiful." I said as she walked downstairs in only my tshirt.
" morning." She said smiling.
I kissed her hard " how'd you sleep last night."
" my shower was nice." We both laughed. I pulled her onto my lap she almost tipped over that's when I knew she was ONLY wearing my tshirt.
" oh." I said laughing.
She got up.
" where you going? Bring it back here."
" we have work derek." She was giggling she couldn't hold a straight face.
" so..." I chased after her and we both crashed on the bed. I started to tickle her.
" derek ! Come on we gotta get going!"
" nope!"
I held her down until I heard a little voice.
" daddy?" We looked up to see Zola standing in the doorway. She ran downstairs so we did too.
" Zola what are you doing?" Mer asked
" calling the police!"
" why sweetheart?"
" daddy was hurting you."
" oh no zo, zola he wasn't hurting me. Daddy wasn't hurting me."
" he wasn't?"
" no sweetie," I took the phone from Zola. " you know when daddy does airplane with you and then puts you on the couch and does the claw and tickled you?"
" YEAH!" She said getting excited. That was her favorite game.
" well that was him tickling me he was trying to make me laugh."
" oh okay."
" Zola." I said bending down. " zo I want you to know that I would never hurt any of you. Not you, your mom, Bailey or Olivia. I love you guys and I love your mom. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not hurting your mom. Me and mommy were just playing."
" okay I get it I love you daddy." She said giving me a hug.
" I love you too zo."
She ran upstairs to get dressed.
" I love you too." Mer said smiling.
" mmm I love you too meredith" I said kissing her hard. We both got dressed and then headed to work. I wasn't that busy today which was good because Zolas school called.
" hello?" I said picking up.
" hello. Mr. shepherd?"
" yes?"
" Zola was throwing up this morning and she gave this number for us to call?"
" does she have a fever?"
" no but she might be food sick or another cold."
" okay I'll come pick her up."
" okay I'll make sure she's ready."
" okay thank you."
I picked her up and brought her to the hospital. I found a nurse.
" page dr. Karev." I said
" shepherd? What's up?"
" Zola was throwing up today so they sent her home can you take a look at her. I don't think anything is wrong but I wanna make sure."
" yeah no problem. Come on zo lets go play doctor." She skipped while walking with Alex.
" alright let's take a look." He said picking her up and putting her on a table. After about half an hour he finally started to fill out his chart.
" alright so I think you are right I think she is fine but if you like we can keep an eye on her."
" yeah sure maybe I'll drop her off at the daycare?"
" yeah I think they'll take her."
" okay thanks Karev."
I took her down to the daycare but they called me three hours later telling me she was getting a fever. I brought her back to Alex.
" she just can't get enough of you." I joked while walking up to him.
" alright let's take a look."
" so anything?"
" well it looks like she has a urinary tract infection but with some antibiotics she'll be fine. Just keep an eye on her."
" thanks Karev."
" anytime bye zo see you later"
" bye uncle Alex "
" zo you wanna go see mommy doing surgery?"
" yeah!"
We went into the viewing room and watched Mer do a appendectomy. She looked up and saw us and then took a double take. I could hear her but she couldn't hear us.
" nurse can you turn on the intercom. Derek you too!"
" what Mer?"
" why is our daughter here?"
" gotta be more specific we have two daughters" I said laughing
" derek the one waving at me."
" hi mommy."
" hi Zola." She looked at me waiting for an answer.
" she got sick this morning and in the daycare I took her to Alex and he said she might have a urinary tract infection that everything would be fine she may need antibiotics and she needs to be watched."
" oh okay well I'm almost done here and then I'm done do you have a surgery?"
" one but I can reschedule."
" no I got it." I shut off the intercom and went to sit by Zola.
" okay I'm all done here Richard can you close up?"
" yes go ahead."
" derek turn on the intercom" she said walking towards it.
" what?" I asked
" meet me in the attending lounge in 10 minutes. Love you."
" okay love you too."
" come on zo time to see mommy."
We met in the lounge.
" tomorrow's Easter derek and we have no plans."
" oh I forgot!"
" what?"
" everybody is going to mark and Lexie's I forgot to tell you!"
" Derek!"
" I'm sorry."
" what are we suppose to be bringing?"
" dessert."
" fine just next time remind me earlier."
" sorry I love you."
" I love you too. Come on zo say goodbye to daddy."
" bye daddy love you."
" love you too zo be good for mommy"
I gave them both hugs and kisses.
" see you later." She said
" mmhmm."
I went into a surgery with Mark.

Meredith POV:

" Derek just didn't tell me I mean I get it people forget to tell others things but I don't know. I don't know why I'm freaking out." I said walking out with Alex and Zola.
" neither do I. Mer he said he was sorry and that he forgot it's not that big of a deal. Come to my house and make a dessert with me and Jo"
" no it's okay I don't want to intrude."
" yeah okay you mean you want to."
" ALEX!"
" you're coming Mer plus cristina is coming over too."
He picked up Zola and we went to his house. I texted derek.

To Derek:

Going to Alex's to make dessert won't be late love you.

He didn't answer so I figured he was in surgery.
" jo, cristina, Mer is here" Alex said walking through the door.
" hey Mer!" Jo said
" hi guys!"
" Mer good thank god you're here Owen volunteered us to make appetizers and I don't know what to make!" Cristina yelled.
" Zola go play." I said " well make your spinach dip."
" I could but I would have to run to the store."
" it's 9:00 are they open?" Jo asked
" the one by my house is take Zola with you."
" okay come on zo"
They went to the store and I made cupcakes. When they came back Alex tucked her in on the couch until I was ready to go. Derek texted me around 11:00.

From Derek:

Where are you?

To Derek:

Still at Alex's. Zola is sleeping. Where are you?

From Derek:

Just got home. April and Jackson were the last ones there. Just put the kids down.

To Derek:

Derek that's so late! They just got to bed?

From Derek:

Oh no I meant like retucked them in. Do you want me to pick up Zola?

To Derek:

No she's sleeping don't wake up the others I'll see you soon love you.

I was done helping to cook and bake around midnight. I grabbed Zola without waking her up, said thank you and headed home. I walked into the house to a sleeping husband on the couch. I put Zola to bed and woke up Derek.

" Derek. Derek wake up."
" hmm? What? What's the matter? Are you okay? Is it the kids?"
" no derek no everyone and everything is fine. Just come to bed."
He groaned.
" come on." I said pulling him up. He giggled half asleep when he put his arms around my neck and I practically dragged him to the bedroom. I took off his shoes and threw him in bed. I grabbed a shower and by the time I headed to bed it was about 2 in the morning.
