Christmas Day Part 1

We got woken up by Zola jumping up and down on the bed yelling " mommy! Daddy! It's Christmas! Santa came Santa came Santa came!"
I picked her up off the bed and we headed downstairs. Zola sat near the Christmas tree shaking the presents that were labeled her name. We got Bailey up and we sat around the tree opening presents. Once that was all done we started to get ready for work. Zola was happy to go to the daycare today. They were having a big party for the kids so they would have something to do. It was cute they did it every year and they decorated well.
" Mer come on we are going to be late." I said grabbing her stuff to carry to the car.
" ohh you don't have to Derek I can carry it."
" I want to."
She kissed me and walked out the door. We were better now back to the way things were and we were both so happy that we agreed to block that out of our life.
When I got to the hospital Jackson and Mark surrounded me.
" how is everything? Is there gonna be a fight during Christmas dinner?" Mark asked.
" Merry Christmas boys. No we are fine we love each other and we got past it just don't bring it up." I said.
" you fixed it or put it to the side?" Jackson asked
Walking away I yelled " we fixed it Merry Christmas!"
" merry Christmas Derek." They laughed and went on with their day. Every surgeon was in the ER today with all ORs ready to go. I was talking to the guys when somebody came and gave me a hug.
" I love you Derek." It was meredith.
" I love you to.." I pulled her into an exam room.
" what?" She asked
" are we okay? Are you okay? Are you still mad?"
" no you coming home was the one thing that got me through this whole thing plus I got in touch with Addi this week and I've got a surprise for you!"
" oh yeah? What's the surprise?"
" she's coming for Christmas!"
I hesitated for a moment. " she's what? Meredith I don't want to see her! After everything we've been through you really want her back here?!"
" Derek I love you and inviting her over we are being the bigger people plus she's engaged."
" to whom?"
" a boyfriend she found in LA"
She gave me a kiss " don't worry everything is gonna be fun tonight."
I kissed her back " whatever it's your night love you."
" thank you I need this love you."
At the sound of that I knew everything was normal and back to the way it was.
