A relationship you never saw coming

Meredith and I walked into the ER to see everyone just walking around.
" quiet day?" She asks.
" I guess so." I gave her a kiss.
" Dr.Shepherd a patient needs you in bed 6"
" okay thank you."
I went over an the curtains were closed so I opened them. Except I saw something that I didn't want to see.
" Oh my god you have got to be kidding me!" I yelled turning away. Meredith saw and started laughing. She came over and gave me a hug.
" shepherd!" Owen said
" oh my god Derek!" Amelia said shocked.
" what the hell are you guys doing?!"
" Derek, it's not what it looks like."
" really Hunt, because it looked like you were just making out with my baby sister."
I walked away.
" I meant bed 7 sorry doctor." I nurse said.
" yeah thanks."
" Derek we need to talk." Owen said.
I spun around " no we really don't. Just don't talk to me right now." I went to my patient. I finished up with the consult.
" Derek.. Psst Derek." I turned around to see Meredith waving me down in an on- call room.
" what?"
" come here." She dragged me in.
" what's going on?"
" you need to be happy for your sister."
" no I don't."
" Derek she's been through a lot lately and I feel like she hasn't told everyone the whole story. Just try to be happy for her."
" what are you talking about you're saying she's keeping a secret?"
" I don't know Derek."
" I can report him to the board."
" for what kissing someone? Derek they're both attending a theres nothing you can do. Just be happy."
" mmhmm."
I walked out and she followed.
" where you going?"
" I have patients Meredith."
" TALK TO YOUR SISTER!" She yelled after me.
My next patient was a 6 year old that had been unconscious due to a bleed. I checked his scans.
" page my sister." I told a nurse. After about ten minutes she didn't come. I told her to page her again. Still she never came.
" God, where is she." I went looking for her. I passed Meredith.
" have you seen Amelia?" I asked
" no I haven't why?"
" I need her help with a patient."
" alright well I'll help you look for her."
We looked everywhere. I finally opened an on- call room to see Owen on top of my sister.
" You have got to be kidding me! Amelia I need your help with a patient so get your ass dressed and go to the scanning room!" I walked away.
" you know I'm trying to help you guys out but you're not making it easy. Next time, keep your pagers on." Meredith said as she slammed the door shut. Meredith followed me.
" you okay?"
" I'm fine. I she coming or am I on my own for this one?"
" I'm here." She said walking in.
" Derek we need to talk." Owen said
" the hell we do. I don't care if your the chief of surgery or an intern I'm telling you get the hell out of my face now! And you call me Shepherd from now on." I yelled.
" Owen I think you need to go." Meredith said.
" you could be a little nicer to him." Amelia said.
" I could be but I won't."
" I'm finally happy Derek, why can't you be okay with that."
" because you're my baby sister."
" but you don't need to watch every little step I make. Yeah I get it, you had to when I was younger cause dad wasn't there and when I slipped but I'm fine. I'm clean. Derek, I will always be your baby sister but sometimes you gotta put me down and let me walk. I love you Derek." She said as she began to walk out.
During the surgery it was me, my sister, and Meredith
" so you're actually happy?" I asked
" what?"
" with Owen?"
" yeah. I am."
" you think he's the one?"
" yeah. Yeah I do"
" okay."
" okay?"
" okay."
Meredith put a hand on my shoulder.
" mer go tell everyone drinks at our house." I said
" okay."
She walked out.
" I expect you and Owen to be there." I said and Amelia smiled in response.
When we scrubbed out she wrapped her arms around me for a hug.
" I love you kiddo." I said
" I love you too."
We walked out and I met Meredith at the daycare.
" you were a big brother in there." She said handing me Bailey.
" yeah well she needs one." I said.
When we got to our house we started to clean up. Everyone showed up.
" shepherd where's the drinks?" Jackson asked walking in.
" hard stuff in the cabinet, beers in the fridge." I smiled
" want something?" He asked. I nodded and followed him into the kitchen. Alex and Jo walked in.
" Alex come join us!" Jackson yelled.
Mark came in with Elizabeth into the kitchen.
" Dude no chicks in the kitchen!" Jackson joked taking Elizabeth into his arms.
" you drunk Avery?" Mark asked
" no it's his first beer." I laughed. Then Owen and Amelia came in.
" hey kiddo!" I yelled and she came to give me a hug. Owen was still standing by the door.
" Derek invite him in." Mark said
" no."
" you forgave your sister." Alex said.
" and I have no intentions of forgiving him."
" Owen come on in!" Mark called.
" dude what the hell!" I yelled through my teeth.
" boys. derek." Owen said.
I just stood there and drank my beer.
" how's Amelia?" Jackson asked and I glared at him as he looked at me.
" she's good. Amazing."
" on that note." I said walking away.
" Derek come on..." Mark said.
" mmhmm." I walked away.
" so your gonna forgive your sister but not Owen?" Meredith asked
" those were my plans, yes."
" you can't do that Derek."
" but I am."
I went to go play with the kids. Owen came and sat down.
" so when are you gonna talk to me."
" I don't have to."
" but you do im the chief of surgery."
" yeah well I can get my way without talking to you."
" so you're just not gonna ever talk to me again."
" yeah. Basically."
" Derek.."
" WHAT OWEN!" I yelled. Everyone was staring. He didn't say anything.
" WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SAY THAT IS SO IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW THAT YOU KEEP SAYING MY NAME!" I was getting mad.
" are you drunk?"
" Oh you have got to be kidding me!" I yelled.
" Owen..." Amelia said.
" what?" Owen asked.
" Owen he didn't even do anything." Meredith said.
" that was a low blow Hunt." Mark said.
" that was mean." Alex said.
" that was just wrong." Jackson said.
" that wasn't right." Addison added
" you shouldn't have said that." April said
" he's not drunk Owen." Callie said.
" he's just mad." Arizona said
" he's protective of his baby sister.." Meredith continued.
" Get out of my house Hunt." I said getting pissed.
" Derek I'm sorry I know that was a little out of hand."
" OWEN GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! NOW! GO! LEAVE!"
He walked out. Everyone stayed quiet.
" and that's the guy you want to spend the rest of your life with. I'm going to bed." I said and walked out.
