Christmas Day Part 3

" the surgery went well but we are still waiting for her to wake up" I said
" do we know how long it will take for her to wake up?" The mother asked
" no we don't I'm sorry all we can do is wait."
2 hours later I got paged and ran to her room. Everybody was standing outside.
" what's going on?" I asked.
" look for yourself." Callie said with a smile.
" dr.shepherd?" Anna mumbled
" yes Anna I'm here."
" am I gonna live?"
I giggled " I believe so." I turned towards Wilson " go get the mom."
She ran in and said thank you and gave me a hug. I left them alone and went into the hallway where everyone else was they all congratulated me and said good job. Meredith was the only one standing there. I grabbed her hand as we stood together staring into the room.
" you were a god today."
" it was a Christmas miracle."
" you did it Derek you saved that little girls life."
" now I hope she lives a long life and as much as I hate saying this but without her dad."
She squeezed my hand.
" come on let's go home."
" not yet get everybody together and meet me outside the room in an hour."
" what are you up to?"
" you'll see. Love you." I kissed her and walked away.
" love you too." She called back.
An hour later we all met outside the room. I went in first.
" hey Anna how you feeling?"
" little better still have a headache."
" well that's to be expected. Do you celebrate Christmas?"
" yes!"
I waved the guys in and they brought lights and trees and other decorations into her room. Her mom and step dad and step siblings gave us a hug and said thank you.
" dr. Shepherd what's your plans for tonight?"
" well we are all going back to my house with the kids to celebrate."
" you have a family?"
" yes. This is my wife Meredith, my sister Amy, I have 3 more an then my 2 kids Zola and Bailey."
" they are all so cute."
" looks run in our family." Amy and I said at the same time. Anna giggled she thought it was funny.
" you better get going so you don't miss the party."
" Anna I'll see you in the morning rest up."
I said goodbye and walked with Mer to get the kids and go home.
