The end of 24 hours

Cooper has been awake for the 24 hours and they ran tests. He's out of the woods. I got pages and ran to Charlotte's room. Everybody was standing outside the room with tears in their eyes. ' Shit' was all I could think.
" what's going on?" I asked
" Derek. Look." Mer said. I walked into Charlotte's room and everyone followed.
" Charlotte how we feeling?"
" better than before. Thank you Derek."
" welcome."
" how's coop?"
" he's awake. Out of the woods. Only had a head laceration and a broken rib."
" the babies?"
" one we had to deliver to get you awake. The other two you should carry to full term."
" Mason?"
" he's not awake yet. We are trying our very best."
" you need to save him. It's cooper's boy. Save Mason."
I nodded my head and headed to cooper's room.
" hey you headin out?" I asked
" yeah they signed my discharge paper I'm done here. How is everybody."
" Charlotte's awake and asking for you."
He smiled and began to run to her. I stopped him.
" coop, Mason still isn't awake. We need to talk."
He ran to mason's room instead.
" oh my god." He said
" Cooper. They want to declare him brain dead in the next 24 hours if he doesn't wake up."
" he can't. You can't. He's not brain dead."
" no he's not. But if he doesn't wake up..."
" HE'll WAKE UP!" Cooper yelled.
" hey coop. Don't yell at Derek. He's helping us. Remember the saying don't shoot the messenger. Don't yell at the surgeon." Sam said.
" coop lets go see Charlotte." Naomi said
" where's Amelia?" I asked
" right here." I turned around.
" are you up for this?"
" of course I am."
" okay let's get the scans and start planning."
We brought Mason in for the CT.
" Derek it's coming up." Amelia said
We looked at the scan.
" holy shit." I said
" is that?"
"Yeah."
" who was his doctor?"
" I don't know but how did they miss this?"
" I don't know but if we didn't do another scan. In less than 24 hours he could've been...."
" dead." Amelia said
" yeah."
We both got up and ran to Addison.
" what's going on? Why are you running?" She asked
" who was Mason's doctor before us?"
" mr. Fields our chief of surgery."
" get him down here. With a lawyer."
" what why?"
" because the reason Mason hasn't been awake is because he's bleeding in the brain. For a couple of days. He needs a good lawyer."
We ran to the OR with Mason and started the surgery. Mer came in.
" how's it going?" She asked.
" good. How's the parents?"
" nervous but they trust you."
" mmhmm."
" need me to stay?"
" yeah. You can stay."
Everyone else came in. We were almost about to close when the monitor began to beep and all heads turned towards me and Amelia and at the monitor.
" derek...." Amelia said
" I know."
