Date Night

DEREK POV:

We had work today so we both got up and got ready. Mer was already dressed and ready to go. Little did she know that I had a surprise dinner for her tonight.
"So callie called and said that Zola wants to go to Sophia's to sleep over tonight." Mer said when I came down.
" did she?" I smiled at zola.
"And Mark said that he wanted Bailey and Elizabeth to bond more."
" that's great."
" and one more thing... Jackson and April said they would watch Olivia tonight. Do you know what's going on?"
" no have no idea. That's nice of them though. The only bad think is that we have to watch their kids too now."
" yeah well a favor for a favor."
" come on let's get ready for work."
We went to work and I saw Callie and Arizona in the ER.
" hey thanks again for tonight." I said
" hey no problem. I'm really happy you guys are getting out tonight. She's been tense." Callie said
" yeah I noticed." I laughed.
" it's good, healthy." Arizona said
I smiled and was about to walk away when the doors flung opened and a person collapsed. Blood everywhere. Then gun fire. Not one, not two, but three rocket through the air.
" send a code black to everybody." I whispered to the nurse. Our pagers went off. The gun man still hasn't entered to the hospital. Mer came into the ER. I was scared. Then all of a sudden. Gun shot and Mer fell to the floor.
'Oh god!' Was all I could think. I couldn't move. Callie and Arizona just stared at me. I couldn't move. I was frozen. Then something happened that I never thought would.
" okay listen. I know you are hiding behind the doors. But you just shot someone very close to one of us. Someone's wife. Someone's person. If I don't help them then it's over. That person's wife is dead. Their love of their life is gone. So will you let me help them?" Arizona said. He came from behind the doors. A face to the person who shot my wife. Owen was holding me back.
" where did you come from?" I asked
" I'm chief. I better be here."
" yeah go ahead." The guy sad. Arizona ran to her.
" who's wife was that? Who's person?" He asked.
" mine." I said raising my hand.
" I'm sorry. I wasn't looking for her."
" who are you looking for?"
" Richard Webber."
" why?"
" he killed my daughter. Said it was a simple surgery. Now she's gone."
" OR 3." I said
" thank you." He said.
" Derek what are you doing?!" Owen yelled through his teeth.
" he's not in OR 3 he's in the trauma room over there. You need this space. Now you can work. Fix my wife. I'll call the chief of police."
I got on the phone.
" hello?"
" chief we have a problem."
" what."
" code black."
He pause for the longest time.
" CHIEF!" I yelled through the phone.
" code.. What?"
" black."
" black?"
" yes."
" Derek... Don't play with me."
" this isn't a game. Chief get here now."
" has he shot anyone?"
" 3 nurses and Mer."
" Meredith?"
" she's in the trauma room with Hunt."
" my team will be there soon."
" hurry."
And I hung up the phone. Hunt came out of the trauma room.
" hunt." I said
He came over to me.
" I have something to tell you." He said.
Just then the police came running through the doors.
" HUNT!" I yelled. He was staring at the police.
' what happened?' Was all I could think.
