MEREDITH POV:

I walked into Owen's office.
" Hunt, I have a surgery do you want someone else to do it?"
" how's your leg?"
" fine."
" no pain, not sore? I need you to not lie to me about this Grey."
" I'm not I haven't had any pain."
" are you on any meds?"
" pain killers and antibiotics."
" okay fine go ahead and do the surgery but if you don't feel right I'm pulling you out."
" thanks Owen."
I got a page.
" what is it Grey?"
" 911. They're taking him to the OR now!" We both ran into the scrub room. Derek waved me in.
" what's going on?" I asked.
" brain bleed."
" can you save him?"
" I don't know." He kept looking at me.
" alright well I need to repair his internal injuries so what's the best way to do this?"
" all at once." Avery said
" are we sure about that?" Cristina asked
" yeah." Derek said.
" alright let's go." I said.
Everybody was in the gallery.
" Derek?" Callie talked over the PA.
" yeah?" We all looked up.
" I know we are all incredibly pissed at you right now but you need to say it."
Derek nodded.
" it's a beautiful night to save lives lets get started."
We all started to cut. The internal injuries were bad. Owen was working with me. We both looked up at Kepner, Bailey, and Richard. They got up and scrubbed in.
" what can we do?" April asked
" come help us with the stomach."
Cristina looked at Ross and he came running in.
" where do you need me?" Ross asked.
" I need you to help me with this heart."
Addison came down.
" I know this isn't my field but can I do anything?"
" yeah you can Derek and I." Callie said and she went to help them.
We were almost done with his internal injuries when he started to code.
" Grey what's going on?" Owen asked
" it's not us it's someone else."
" Cristina?"
" not me I just finished."
" it's me there's a massive brain bleed." Derek said.
" can you fix it."
" I don't know."
" well try!"
We closed him up everywhere else when all of a sudden.
" HES V-TECH GRAB THE PADDLES!" I yelled.
" CHARGING TO 200 CLEAR!" I shocked him but nothing.
" CHARGING 300 CLEAR!" He flatlined. After 25 minutes we had to call it.
" Derek." Owen said
" time of death 8:45." He walked out and the rest of us followed.
" can I talk to you?" Derek asked
" yeah."
I followed him into a stairwell. He tried to hold my hand but I pulled back.
" Derek..."
" Meredith.."
" it's too late for that it's over between us."
" I know it is. I just wanted to know if we are seeing other people."
" yeah go ahead and we can still be friends."
" we tried that once remember what happened."
" yeah well we're grown ups now."
" okay. Friends?"
" friends. Oh and Derek."
" yeah."
" I'm sorry about the patient."
" me too."
We both walked out.
" well ?" Amy asked.
" we are seeing other people."
" so it's officially over?"
" so over." I walked away. I knew it was for the best.

DEREK POV:

It's for the best, it's what she wanted or needed. I don't know. When she walked past me she looked upset which broke my heart. I wanted to tell her I don't want to see anyone else but her but I knew I shouldn't.
' it's time to move on.' I told myself as I walked away from everyone.
