All I heard Alex say was " Her room is down on the right the third door."
" they're here." I told them.
" oh my god my baby girl! Amelia!" Her mom was banging on the door.
" Mom! Mom stop. Stop its okay. Stop its all going to be okay." I said giving her a hug. I started calling her mom the day we got married.
" Mer... Meredith that's my baby girl. That's Amelia!" She was balling.
" I know sshh I know. I know it's Amelia."
" where's Derek?" Nancy asked.
" he went to grab a couple more chairs with Owen."
" I'm here." I heard him say.
" Derek!" His mom ran to him.
" I'm so sorry mom I'm so sorry."
" there's no reason for you to be sorry. You didn't do anything. You weren't there."
" mom, this is Amelia's boyfriend, Owen."
She gave him a hug and Derek walked towards me.
" hey." He said.
" hi."
" can I talk to you a minute?" He asked.
" yeah." He brought me into an on -call room.
" I am so sorry." He said.
" wait what? Why are you sorry Derek? I'm sorry."
" for what?"
" your sister. That this is happening. Our sister."
" I'm sorry because I've been not here for the past couple of days. I've been... Absent."
" derek... No you haven't you went through something. We're okay."
" but I did the same thing with Addison and she cheated on me." He looked at the floor.
" Derek look at me. Loo at me." He looked up with tears in his eyes. " I'm not going anywhere. You got me. It's just the two of us, and the kids. Through better or for worse. I'm not leaving Derek. I'm staying."
He got up and kissed me hard and then gave me a hug.
" I love you Meredith Grey."
" I love you too Derek. We'll get through this."
Somebody opened the door. It was Alex.
" Amelia is awake." Alex said. Derek and I ran out the door but Alex stopped me.
" you guys okay?"
" yeah."
" nothing's going on?"
" his sister is in the hospital. Alex, you tell me."
We went to her room.
" how is she?" I asked.
" ask her yourself." Derek said smiling.
She smiled at me.
" hey kiddo how's it going?"
" I hurt a little."
" yeah I bet. You almost scared us there."
" sorry."
" jo could you take my mom and sisters down to the cafeteria please?" Derek asked.
" yeah no problem."
" what why?" His mom asked.
"No it's nothing I just want to talk to the guys real quick."
" okay."
" so the damage?"
" is minimal. Nothing that can't heal on its own." Alex said.
" that's good." I said
" but she is gonna have to come in weekly." Jackson added
" we'll make her." Derek said.
" alright let's give them so privacy" I said walking out.
" Meredith where are you going?" Derek asked
" out in the hallway."
" no stay here."
" she keeps running away." Amelia whispered.
" I am not!"
" but you are." Derek said half giggling.
" come sit." Amelia said as we talked for a few until everyone came back.
" Derek we're going to go grab a hotel. We'll be back in the morning." His mom said.
" okay." He said and I nudged him.
" mom wait. Just stay at our house." He continued eyeing me.
" no it's okay, you got the kids and you guys need to get rest. We'll grab a hotel."
" you're not getting a hotel...." I got my key out " here take my key." I handed it to her and I turned towards Derek. " okay so Richard wants to talk to me so I'm gonna go."
" running away again." Amelia whispered.
" yeah she is." Derek smirked
" no you know what... I'm not gonna even bother.. I'm walking out I will see you later... I have to talk to Richard."
" running away." Amelia said
" stop it!" I laughed
" alright alright that's enough. Have fun with Richard I'll talk to you later." Derek said. I started to walk out.
" umm excuse me did you forget something?" Derek asked. He was smiling. I went over and gave him a kiss.
" bye." I said
" I love you."
