The Next Morning

" DEREK DEREK WAKE UP!" Cristina was yelling.
" what cristina why are you yelling?"
" THEY'RE HERE!"
" who Cristina who's here"
" A PLANE THEY JUST LANDED!"
" where is everyone?"
" a couple are lifting the plane off Lexie, a few are getting us on stretchers, some are knocking us out so we sleep on the plane and some are taking pictures."
" I need to get up where's mer?"
" already sleeping."
" help me up cristina."
" no they are coming you can't get up."
The guys came running with a stretcher.
" are you Dr. Derek Shepherd?" One of them asked.
" yes."
" time to get you to a hospital."
They lifted me onto a stretcher and then on a plane and then I fell asleep.
I woke up all groggy and in a terrible lit room. I pushed the nurse button.
" dr.shepherd how are you feeling?"
" not great."
" yes, well relax we have it under control."
" my hand?" It was all wrapped up.
" you are going into surgery for your leg and hand in a few."
" what about everyone else and where are my kids?!"
" everyone is on their way. Do you know where you are?"
" no."
" Kansas City Medical Center."
I just looked outside and the nurse left. I closed my eyes for a little.
" Derek?" I heard a voice. I opened my eyes.
" Mer *clears throat*... Meredith."
" oh thank god you are okay!"
" how's your head?"
" they sewed it up along with my leg. They're taking you into surgery in an hour."
" what do you want to do?"
" what do you mean?"
" about us. About our family. What do you want to do."
She just stared at the floor as a tear fell to the floor.
" so you don't love me anymore." I said
" of course I do."
" then it's the kids."
" I love the kids too."
" THEN WHAT IS IT MEREDITH!" I yelled a little too loud.
" ITS THE FACT THAT WE DONT HAVE TIME FOR ANYTHING ANYMORE! WE ARE ALWAYS WORKING AND WHEN WE ARENT WORKING WE HAVE THE KIDS! DEREK I NEVER WANTED MY LIFE TO BE LIKE THIS. I WANTED OUR LIFE TO BE EASY TO BE FLEXIBLE SO WE COULD DO EVERYTHING! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULNT BE ABLE TO DO THIS!" She was crying
" are you saying that you don't want to do this anymore."
" Derek..."
" answer the question meredith."
" Derek please!"
" it's simple Mer yes or no. I love you I never stopped but if you don't want this, me , then let me out of my misery."
" Derek!"
" meredith get out."
" Derek please I'm sorry."
" leave meredith now!"
She left crying. The nurse came in.
" is there anyone we should tell about your surgery?"
" no lets get this over with."
A couple hours later Bailey, Richard, Owen, Jackson, April, Alex, Jo and Callie all walked into my room with my kids.
" Look zo there's daddy go say hi!" Bailey said. They all had sad faces on.
" daddy are you hurt?" Zo asked and everyone started to tear up.
" yes sweetie but daddy is going to be okay you hear me I'm going to be okay."
" what about mommy?"
" she's fine zo she had a cut on her head and leg but they sewed her up and she's fine."
She climbed down and bailey and Olivia sat down.
" Derek... What happened?" Jackson asked
" I don't know. I just don't know."
" so Mer really did have a bad feeling." Alex said.
" oh my god."
" what?" Owen asked
" find meredith."
" what?" April asked
" somebody go find my wife!"
Everyone could tell we were all a little angry who wouldn't be.
" Derek I'm going to check on arizona I'll be back soon." Callie said.
" wait."
" what."
" it's bad just be prepared."
She left.
" I'm gonna go see her too" Karev said.
He left with Callie.
" when April gets back tell her I went to go see Mark."
" he's not awake."
" what?"
" jackson they said that he will probably be okay but he isn't awake. They didn't promise anything."
" Lexie?"
" she's the worst of us all."
He ran down the hall.
Meredith and April came in.
" guys can i have a word alone."
They left.
" what derek."
" we agreed we wouldn't run, we wouldn't walk out no matter what, that I would love you even when I hate you."
She just stared at me with tears in her eyes.
" Meredith why didn't you say anything?"
" what?"
" come here."
She came over and I pulled her onto my bed.
" you were scared because you didn't know what was gonna happen if one of us didn't make it back home. You were scared you weren't going to be able to handle it all. You were scared that one of us were gonna leave and never come back."
" it sounds stupid."
" not at all. I had a scare not that long ago so it was normal for you to be nervous. But I need you to answer my questions this time."
" what."
" do you love our kids?"
" of course. I don't know where I'd be without them."
" do you still love me?"
" never stopped."
" I'm in love with you meredith grey."
" I'm in love with you too."
I was so glad everything was okay. Of course it would take all of us a lot of time to heal but we would do it together. When it was time to go home we all were sedated and put on a plane to take us home.
