There were three things Beca was sure of. One, water is wet. Two, she was never going to pass her Philosophy class. Three, her best friend, Stacie Conrad, had never been romantically attracted to her.
Point three is the only reason why she agreed to the ridiculous lyric prank her roommate, Fat Amy, pestered her about.
They were bored on a Saturday night and were playing truth or dare, this ended up being Beca's dare. She didn't want to do it at first, but Amy gave her a choice: Stacie or Jesse, her ex, so she reluctantly complied (not before glaring at Amy, though).
"What's the song again?" Beca asks distractedly.
"Driver's License by Olivia Rodrigo. It's a recent smash hit, you've heard it,"
She hums in disinterest and sighs, unblocking her phone to look up the lyrics. Here goes nothing.
Beca: hey
Stacie: sup Becs?
Beca: I got my driver's license last week
Stacie: what? when? you suck at driving 🤨
Beca: just like we always talked about
Stacie: bro we talked about how you'd never get it cause you kept bumping your dad's car!! but regardless
Stacie: congrats! don't floor anybody 🎉 btw why are u telling me just now?
Beca: cause you were so excited for me to finally drive up to your house
Stacie: yea exactly so you should've told me sooner 😭 a chauffeur can come in handy
Beca: but today I drove to the suburbs
Stacie: and didn't even send a snap smh
