"...Has to go," Calum said, as my heart was being ripped apart when he said the words. I sighed. "You know, Calum, I would've thought you'd actually have a heart to let her stay but apparently not. Do whatever you want with her. It's not like you care what happens to her," I said with anger mixed with sadness in my voice. I stood up and stomped out of my room. I went downstairs, got my shoes on, and opened the door. I heard Ash say to me from the kitchen, "Hey, where you going, Nicole?" I glared at him and said angrily, "For a walk." Then I shut the door and started to walk.

ASHTON'S POV

I was confused at Nicole's reaction. I was about to open the door and call her back but Calum stopped me as I heard him from behind say, "Let her go." I turned around and saw him holding a BEAUTIFUL PUPPY. I said, "Whoa," as I widened my eyes. "Where did you get that?" I asked. Calum explained to me what had happened. I understood.

Ash: But, Calum, why didn't you let her keep the puppy? It would make her the happiest person on Earth.

Calum: Because... *sighs* I miss Cocoa too much.

Ash: What?

Calum: When Cocoa had left, Nicole wasn't the only depressed one. I was devastated she had passed away. I guess... I didn't want to go through any pain while having Charlotte.

Ash: Her name is Charlotte?

Calum: Nicole gave her that name. Nicole can be cute like that sometimes, can't she?

Ash: Very. But I didn't know you had liked Cocoa that much, Calum.

Calum: Neither did I. I knew Nicole wouldn't mind having Charlotte, but me... I guess I was only doing what's best for me. Not for Nicole.

Ash: Cal, don't blame it on yourself. I agree with your opinion.

Calum: You do?

Ash: Yeah. I mean, it's obvious Nicole isn't really going to never forgive you.

Calum: Well maybe not never, but for a while she won't.

Ash: Well sometimes, Calum, you gotta learn to get over it. You can't give Nicole everything she wants when she wants it. She needs to know that.

Calum: And she does. She does know that. When Nicole comes back from that walk, I'm going to tell her that I'm sorry for my decision but I'm keeping it.

Ash: Thats the spirit, Calum. But don't be too harsh on her. She's still a fragile little girl.

Calum: Yeah. I will.

NICOLE'S POV

I stayed on the sidewalk, not even going an inch near the road because I didn't want another accident. Anyway, I walked and walked and walked trying to think of the positive things in life now I know I can't have Charlotte. It was pretty hard though. I guess I did get too attached to Charlotte. Calum was right. But Charlotte needs a home. I mean, the person who left that box out in our yard wouldn't just give it to us so we could send it away. I'm still wondering who sent us Charlotte. Anyway, I walked around the block 2 times and then came back home at 2:31. I saw Calum, Ash, and Luke watching TV. They didn't seem to notice me until I tried to make my way up my room. Calum called me and said, "Hey, Nicole. Um, we need to talk." I sighed and walked over to them. Ash and Luke suddenly just walked into the kitchen leaving us alone. But it was pretty obvious they were going to listen in on our conversation. I mean, what else would they do? I sat on the couch with Calum and Calum started talking. He said, "Okay, I know how much you did love Charlotte even though you only had her for 20 minutes." I wanted to end the conversation right now. Calum continued.

Calum: I just want you to know, Nicole, that I am sorry for my decision. But Charlotte needed another family.

Nicole: Calum, I know.

Calum: Are you mad?

Nicole: Pissed.

Calum: *widens eyes* Excuse me?

Nicole: Calum, you know that I loved her and no matter how much you knew that, you still let her go.

Calum: Nicole, it was the right choice.

Nicole: No, it wasn't. Okay, I admit. I did get a little too attached to Charlotte in the first place --

Calum: Yes --

Nicole: -- But that doesn't change the fact that I am still hurt by your decision.

Calum: I know Charlotte is a loveable dog but you have to move on, Nicole. You know what Tay --

Nicole: Yeah, I know. I can't really forget, Calum.

Calum: *sighs* Nicole, I'm sorry. What is it that you really want from me? I've already made my decision.

Nicole: I don't know what I want, Calum! That's the thing! I never know what I want.

Calum: Nicole, don't say that.

Nicole: It's true, Calum.

Calum: Nicole, all you have to do is tell me, is there anything you feel like you're missing?

Nicole: *pause* Cocoa.

Calum: Oh, I know, Nicole. I miss Cocoa too. A lot actually. I didn't know how much I loved her until she left. I guess animals are the things you have to worry about because you can get attached to them in a flash.

Nicole: *sighs* I guess your decision is forgiven, Calum.

Calum: Thanks, Nicole.

Nicole: You're welcome, Calum.

We both hugged and all of a sudden, we heard Luke and Ashton clapping. They came into the living room and Luke said, "Bravo. You guys finally settled it out! Now can we get to more serious stuff?" I was confused. What did he mean? "Luke, what serious stuff?" I asked. Luke answered my question and I was absolutely shocked at what he had answered with...
