Chapter 169

Scared as hell, I looked up. The guy released Nick from his grasp. Nick ran to the halls as fast as he could. The guy looked down at me and I couldn't breathe. Carson was standing above me. He got out of jail AGAIN?! This kid really needs some higher discipline and maybe a better jail cell!? Carson held his hand out for me to grab. He was trying to help me up. Many questions filled my mind. Should I take his hand? What is he doing here? How did he get out of jail? Is this all for real? Am I dreaming? I decided to grab his hand because he was only trying to help me up. When I got up, I looked him straight in the eyes and saw sadness. I saw regret. What is going on? He said, "Nicole, I'm not here to hurt you." I was speechless. Not knowing what to say, I looked down not wanting to look at his face. I noticed that Jessica, Taylor and Emma were shocked as ever also as speechless as me. Everyone else in the cafeteria had vanished.

Carson: If you're wondering, no, I didn't escape from prison.

Nicole: *looks up*

Carson: I was bailed out.

Nicole: *silence*

Carson: Yeah, I'm really not supposed to be near you but I didn't come here because I wanted you. I came here... to apologize.

Nicole: *silence*

Carson: I've made some AWFUL decisions in my life, mainly hurting you. But you see, I'm changed. I wanted you to know that I'm sorry for hurting you and causing you so much pain.

Nicole: If you think I could forgive you just like that, you're dead wrong. Not only did you hurt me. You hurt the people around me too. How dare you come to me now and say you're sorry? Shame on you, Carson! Shame on you!

Carson: I deserve that, Nicole. I don't blame you for a second for saying that.

Nicole: ...

Carson: I know asking for your forgiveness is far too much to ask, so right now all I ask for is that you know that I am sorry... and that you know that I am not going to hurt you anymore. I'm done.

Then Carson left the school. Silence filled the cafeteria. Not me, Jessica, Taylor, or Emma spoke a word. But I had to say something to them. So I said, "Nobody says a word to anybody about this, got it?" They all agreed. How is Calum going to deal with this? Oh, god.

Sorry for the short chapter. It was quite the good chapter though, don't you think? I mean, PLOT TWIST!!! LOL.
