THE NEXT DAY

I woke up feeling really down about what happened with Jessica and I. I was eating my breakfast and I could feel Ashton, Luke, and Calum all staring at me. I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of rude to all of them while taking my anger out by accident.

Nicole: What?

Luke: Oh, uh, nothing.

Nicole: You're staring at me. Why?

Ashton: Well, we just wanted to know if anything is wrong.

Calum: Yeah, is there, Nicole?

Nicole: Nothing's wrong.

Calum: Oh, yes, there is.

Nicole: Well, if you knew then why'd you ask?!?

(Silence)

Ashton: Nicole, we heard you yelling yesterday.

Nicole: You what?

Calum: You were yelling at Jessica. We don't know why though. Is there something you would like to talk about?

Nicole: Not really.

Luke: Well, too bad because you're gonna tell us anyway.

Nicole: (sighs) Look, I really don't wanna talk about it.

Ashton: Nicole, you know we're there for you. You know how much we care. Just tell us.

Nicole: ...It's just Jessica. She doesn't listen to me.

Luke: How so?

Nicole: Yesterday, Jessica told me Riker asked her out and she said yes.

Calum: Whoa, Jessica is way too young for Riker.

Nicole: I know but Riker doesn't know that. But the worst part of it is, Jessica already has a boyfriend.

Calum: WHAT?!?!

Nicole: Yeah! His name is Carson and she's always wanted to date him.

Luke: Okay, that is so wrong.

Nicole: I know, and that's what I've been trying to tell her! But she won't listen.

Ashton: Well is Jessica mad at you?

Nicole: No, I'm the one mad at her.

Ashton: Well, I can see why. You're just a friend trying to help a friend out.

Nicole: I know, right? I'm not the bad guy here.

Luke: And neither is Jessica.

Nicole: Oh, please.

Luke: Nicole, I think I remember you telling me that Jessica has no experience with boys and she wasn't really into them.

Nicole: I never told you that.

Luke: Okay, let me rephrase that. I think I remember reading your texts and someone mentioning that Jessica wasn't really interested in boys.

Nicole: You read my texts?

Luke: Well, that's the least of your problems right now. What you're really trying to figure out is why Jessica is acting this way.

Nicole: Because she's an idiot.

Luke: Or?

Nicole: She's immature.

Luke: Or?

Nicole: She doesn't know what to do... Wait a second. Jessica has never done this before, so she wouldn't know what to do.

Calum: Now are you getting the picture?

Nicole: Yeah, I am. Oh, my, gosh. I totally need to apologize to Jessica. (Leaves table and goes to room)

I grabbed my iPod and started to text Jessica.

Nicole: Jess I am so sorry 4 yelling at u! this was not ur fault

Jessica: oh Nicole it's ok. btw, I told Riker my age

Nicole: u did?

Jessica: yup. I told him my age and said 2 him that I had a boyfriend

Nicole: and how did he react?

Jessica: well he said he had a girlfriend

Nicole: WHAT?!?!

Jessica: eventually I realized he didn't ask me out on a date. he asked me if I would like 2 have dinner with him because he thought I was part of the family and he's never met me b4

Nicole: oh

Jessica: yeah but it's ok. Riker and I r still friends

Nicole: and what about Carson

Jessica: he doesn't know about any of this

Nicole: okay then. can u forgive me 4 what happened?

Jessica: as long as u can forgive me

Nicole: deal!

Jessica: it's good 2 be friends again

Nicole: we were always friends. I gotta go. bye!

Jessica: bye!

I turned off my iPod and in my doorway was Ashton, just standing there. "How long were you standing there?" I asked as I looked up. "The question is, did you deal with Jessica?" He responded. I told him everything that happened and he listened. I'm so happy it's over.
