Chapter 207

When I got home from school, l opened the door and Ashton was on the phone talking to somebody. I didn't really care who. He looked at me, waved, and I waved back. He said into the phone, "Call you back, Stacy," and then hung up. Stacy? Who the heck is Stacy? Ashton gave me a big hug and said, "Hey, Nicole. Have a good day at school?" I replied, "it was okay. No different than my other days except for -- " Ashton interrupted me and said, "that's great. Listen, think you can stay home alone for just a few minutes?"

Nicole: Wait, where's everyone else?

Ash: They left to do their own things. They'll be back soon but I have something that I need to do and there's nobody to take care of you.

Nicole: Hmm, I don't know, Ashton. How long will you be?

Ash: Not long at all! You don't have to worry. Lock the doors and close the blinds. I have a key so I can get back in if I need to.

Nicole: Would the others really want you to do this?

Ash: Well I'm not really doing anything wrong, am I?

Nicole: No, I guess not.

Ash: I'll pay you $20 to say I'm in my room if anybody comes home.

Nicole: Deal!

Ash: Great. I won't be long.

Nicole: Okay. Bye!

Ash: Bye.

Ashton left the house and I locked the door and started to close all the blinds. I went up to Ashton's room and closed his door so it looked like he didn't wanna be disturbed. I went back downstairs, turned on the TV, and relaxed. "Gravity Falls" was on so I started watching that. All of a sudden, I got a text. Shocker. I get texts often, don't you think? It was from Riley. She texted me, "Guess who I just gave my number to?"

Nicole: who?

Riley: JACK!

Nicole: Riley r u serious? u honestly gave ur number to that thing?

Riley: Nicole u may not like him but I thought he was pretty cute

Nicole: looks aren't everything u know

Riley: tell that to Georgia. see what she thinks 😏

Nicole: Im not even gonna try anymore. u can date who u want

Riley: really? I can?

Nicole: ya. Im not stopping u. it's your life. do whatever u want

Riley: I feel free!

Nicole: have I honestly been that strict with u?

Riley: yeah pretty much

Nicole: sorry 😳

Riley: its alright. no biggie. im just so happy I have a boyfriend!

Nicole: Riley u have a new boyfriend every 2 weeks. Im surprised its still a big thing 4 u

Riley: WRONG! Its every month. maybe 2 if it's going well

Nicole: ur husband is going to be very lucky to have u Riley 😒

Riley: awwwww thank u!

Nicole: ok then

Soon enough, I heard the doorknob rattle. Must be one of the guys. Since the door was locked, they couldn't get in. I was too lazy to go over there and open it so I just waited for them to get their keys out. When the door finally opened, it was Luke. "Hey, Luke," I said. He made a confused face and said, "uhh, hey, Nicole. Where's Ashton?" I instantly put my lying face on and said, "He's in his room and he doesn't want to be disturbed."

Luke: Did he come out of his room to tell you that?

Nicole: ... Yes.

Luke: Well if I just knock on his door and ask him what he's doing in there, I'm sure he won't mind.

Luke started to walk towards the stairs. I stood up, threw my iPod onto the couch and said, "Wait!" I jumped in front of Luke blocking his way of the stairs. Looking down at me he said, "What?" I said to him, "Ummm, why would you wanna do that?" I nervously chuckled. Luke shook his head and said, "whatever he's doing in there can't be that private. We've known each other for awhile you know." Luke tried to go around me and I shifted to the side blocking him again. He raised his eyebrows. "Nicole, I don't understand why you're making such a big deal out of this." He said to me. He simply pushed me to the side lightly and made his way up the stairs. I ran trying to pass him and get in front of him. When I got in front of him, I put my hands on his chest and said, "Stop. Don't disturb Ashton, Luke. He's busy." Luke asked, "Busy doing what?" At this point, both of us were just standing in the middle of the stairs. I had to come up with some excuse. But what do I say?
