Chapter 76

CALUM'S POV

"Where did you go?" Nicole asked me with some extra attitude as I sat back down at the table. I tried using some humour so I said, "Geez, you sound like my ex." Luke and Ash laughed but Nicole kept a frown. "Where... did you go, Calum?" She asked again. Then I said, "I made a phone call." She didn't seem happy at all. This whole situation must be getting to her head.

Nicole: Who did you call?

Calum: 1D.

Nicole: Uh, why would you call them?

Calum: I had some work to do.

Nicole: Some manners, Calum. You just excused yourself without asking.

Calum: I'm sorry.

I just had to keep Nicole okay without putting her under any more stress. I don't wanna fight with her so I just have to agree with her. 10 minutes passed in silence. I looked at Luke and Ash and whispered, "She should be here in 10 minutes." They knew all about the plan because we were talking about it while Nicole was in her room at home.

NICOLE'S POV

I felt calmer for a second. I looked at Calum and said out of nowhere, "I'm sorry." They all looked at me and Calum said, "No need to apologize, Nicole. I know how you're feeling. And you never know, maybe something good could come out of the ordinary any time now." I was confused. What was that supposed to mean?

CALUM'S POV

8 minutes.

NICOLE'S POV

I wonder if the guys are trying to pull off something here. If they are, I'm not in the mood for it. I asked Ashton, "When will the food come, Ash?" He looked at me and responded, "In a couple of minutes." I sighed. I waited and waited.

CALUM'S POV

2 minutes.

NICOLE'S POV

Finally, the food came but for some reason, there was 5 plates. I asked aloud, "Why is there 5 plates and only 4 of us?" Luke then replied, "Well, maybe somebody could join us soon." I scrunched up my face. Then I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and looked at somebody who I recognized straight away. I gasped and stood up. IT WAS TAYLOR SWIFT!! She opened her arms for me to hug her and I hugged her. She laughed and said, "Hi there. You must be the famous Nicole." I pulled away from the hug and said, "Yeah." I couldn't believe what was happening. I turned around and saw Luke, Ash and Calum taking their plates up off the table and standing up. I asked, "Where are you going?" Calum responded, "You guys need some time alone." Then they left to another table. Taylor sat down and asked me, "Is this plate for me?" I responded, "Must be." She chuckled and got comfy.

Taylor: So first of all, I'm very sorry about what happened to your puppy.

Nicole: Yeah.

Taylor: I'm going to try my best to help you with this so just try to go along with it.

Nicole: Okay.

Taylor: So...

Taylor and I talked and talked and talked. Eventually, Ash came by and said, "Wow, you guys have been talking for a really long time." Taylor then replied, "Oh, yeah and we're not even close to finished. If you want, you guys can go home and I can take Nicole when we're done hanging out." I buzzed in and said, "Yeah, yeah, yeah! Please, Ash!" He paused for a second contemplating whether I could stay with Taylor and then he gave his final answer. "Fine. But be back by 11:00." Taylor said, "Sure." Then Ash went to tell the guys. Taylor and I stayed. When we were finishing up, Taylor told me a couple last things.

Taylor: I mean, we're all tired of all the troubles. They're wasting our time. And as hard as it seems, you've got to try your best to get over it.

Nicole: I understand. And now I know. This has hurt me far too much and now it's over. I mean, I still really miss Cocoa but... I'm not going to let that take over who I am.
