Chapter 40

When the guys left, I felt relieved, yet really sick. "Nicole, are you alright? You face is green," Calum said. "I'm not feeling too well," I replied. I held my stomach and ran to the washroom as I puked in the toilet. I was throwing up for 5 minutes until all of a sudden, I saw blood come out. I was so scared. Why is there blood coming out? I was in pain and I just kept puking. 10... minutes... of blood... and pain. It may have been 10 minutes but it felt like hours. Kind of like how I went through so much pain and blood 3 weeks ago. I continued to puke. Ashton had to check on me multiple times. I heard somebody knock on the door again. It was Ashton. "Nicole, you alright in there? This is the 4th time I've checked on you," he said worriedly. I finally stopped and replied to Ashton, "There's something wrong, Ash. I'm... I'm puking blood." He instantly came in. He looked in the toilet and yelled to the boys in the living room, "GUYS!!! NICOLE NEEDS TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL NOW! GET -- " I couldn't hear what he said because I blacked out.

WAKING UP

I woke up in white room full of machines and the door was open. I could hear multiple voices in the hall which sounded like the guys. All 3 of them. Then a nurse came in. She was very pretty and had blonde hair. "Well, hello there. You're awake," she said. "What happened?" I asked. She replied, "Well, your brother outside said you passed out after throwing up in the washroom." I said, "Oh," suddenly remembering.

Nurse: Nicole, you have a very rare disease where nausea gashes over to your lungs causing you to stop breathing for several minutes.

Nicole: Well, will I be okay?

Nurse: Yes, we gave your brother some medicine to give you once everyday, two drops. Its a liquid just for safety.

Nicole: Well, when can I come home?

Nurse: Well, when you wake up. So I'm going to call your friends in and they're going to take you home.

Then the nurse left and Luke, Ashton and Calum came in. Calum came running to my bed and said, "Nicole, are you okay?" I responded, "Yes, I'm fine. Can I go home?" Luke said, "Sure. Let's go." Then I got in the car and we left. When we got home, Luke and Ashton went upstairs to do their own things and Calum and I were in the kitchen. "Okay, Nicole, time for the medicine," Calum said.

Nicole: Okay.

Calum: Here you go. (puts one spoonful of medicine in Nicole's mouth).

Nicole: Ew!!!!! That tastes awful!

Calum: Well, take just one more spoonful and then you're done for the day.

Nicole: No.

Calum: What do you mean, no?

Nicole: I mean, no. I'm not taking another spoonful of that gross thing.

Calum: Come on, Nicole. Just one.

Nicole: No.

Calum: Please.

Nicole: No.

Calum: Nicole...

Nicole: ...No.

Calum: Ugh, you're so frustrating!

Nicole: And you're so demanding!

Ashton: Whoa, what's going on here?

Calum: Nicole won't take her medicine.

Nicole: Because it tastes disgusting!

Ashton: Nicole, in order for you to feel better, you need to take it.

Nicole: No.

Calum: (grabs Nicole's mouth, pulls it open, puts medicine in and closes her mouth).

Nicole: (swallows) EWWW!!! CALUM!!!

Calum: Sorry, but I had to! You wouldn't do it yourself!

Nicole: Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew. (drinks water).

Ashton: Well, you have to take that twice every day for 2 weeks.

Nicole: 2 weeks!?!?!

Calum: Nicole, it's going to make you feel better and not throw up anymore.

Nicole: Are you kidding me? That thing isn't going to stop me from throwing up! Its going to make me throw up even more!

Ashton: Sorry, Nicole. We know how hard it is for you.

Nicole: (sighs) I'm going to bed.

Calum: But it's only 6:30.

Nicole: Good night. (Walks up to room and goes to bed).

CALUM'S POV

"I'm really worried about Nicole, Ashton," I said. He replied, "I am too. I mean, think about all she's been through and we haven't done much to stop it. We really need to take better care of her. LUKE! COME DOWN HERE PLEASE!" Then Luke came down. He said, "Yeah, what do you need?" We all sat at the table and talked.

Ashton: Guys, we really need to take better care of Nicole. From now on, we're going to show more participation.

Luke: But how?

Ashton: Thats what we need to talk about.

Calum: Well, why don't we all have separate jobs to take care of Nicole like we had in the first place?

Luke: Yeah, we kind of stopped doing that without realizing it. Lets continue.

Ashton: I can go back to the job of taking care of her health.

Luke: I'll take care of her money needs like clothes and things for school.

Calum: And I'll be the best big brother I can be. I'll take care of all the other things she needs because I'm her bro.

Ashton: Great. So we're settled?

Luke: Yep.

Calum: Yeah.

Ashton: Awesome. Meeting adjourned!

(Everyone laughs)
