Chapter 43

Yeah, I'm not telling anybody about what happened. One Direction won't know if I tell the guys. I can just keep this to myself. I just gotta hope nothing worse happens tomorrow.

THE NEXT DAY IN THE CAFETERIA

"So how'd they find out?" Jessica asked me at the table. "My makeup came off and they all saw my face. They told me to tell the other guys but no way am I going to do that," I replied."

Jessica: Well, I'm not going to waste all my makeup on this whole thing, Nicole.

Nicole: Oh, no. They're coming this way.

Jessica: Stay cool.

Taylor: Hey, how did you heal so quickly, shortie?

Nicole: It's makeup.

Emma: Mm, you'd need it.

Nicole: Listen, I don't want to start anything. I've been through too much, lately, guys.

Hannah: Well, you walked into this stupid mess, Nicole. You should've thought before you made that fat joke. And now it's time for you to pay.

Jessica: Hannah, she's paid enough. Back off of her.

Hannah: Hey, have you found the lower half of your brain yet? Yeah, didn't think so. So step back.

Nicole: Hannah, I'm not going to fight you right now.

Hannah: Well, you deserve this. Maybe next time, you'll think wiser. (punches Nicole's eye)

Nicole: (yells) Ugh, Hannah!

Jessica: Hannah, stop it! Don't make me get the principle!

Hannah: Ooh, you gonna get the principle now? I'm so scared! (chuckles) Grab her, girls.

(Emma and Taylor grab Jessica by her arms and keep her still)

Jessica could not help at all when Hannah started to kick me in the gut as I felt my stomach in pain. After 10 minutes of beating me up, she left and I had to go to the washroom. "Nicole, you look worse! Now your makeup is off and you've got more cuts and bruises. You've even got a black eye!" Jessica said. I replied, "Jessica, makeup please." She sighed and gave me her makeup as I put it all over my face. At the end of the day, I still was in pain. I walked in and noticed none of the boys were there. Not 5SOS and not One Direction. Then I went into the kitchen to see a note on the table that said:

Dear Nicole,

The guys and I went to the studio to record some songs for a future album. It was mandatory so that next year, we can go on tour. Sorry we're not there at the moment. But One Direction are coming at 4:00 to take care of you. Love you!

I was about to freak out. One Direction are coming!!!! They can't see me right now! If I keep my makeup on, they'll notice but if I keep it off, they'll see the new cuts and my black eye. What am I going to do? One Direction are going to be here in 5 minutes! I have one idea of what to do but it may be hard. I can do it fast though. I went upstairs with my bag to the washroom and pulled Jessica's makeup out. She lent me it. I put the makeup on my black eye and on the new cuts and kept the old ones there. After that, I realized I'm going to have to lie to them and say that I told the guys about my fight. Ugh, this is so much work! Then, I heard somebody come in. One Direction don't knock because they have our spare key. I went to my room and turned on my iPod to play some games before One Direction came barging in asking me, "So you told them?" I replied, "Well, hello to you too."

Louis: How you feeling today, love?

Nicole: Fine.

Liam: You didn't have any trouble today at school?

Nicole: Nope, not at all.

Harry: What's that?

Nicole: What?

Harry: On the side of your forehead? Why is there a cut? I don't remember seeing that yesterday.

Niall: Yeah, come to think of it, me niether.

Zayn: (sighs). Nicole, not again.

Nicole: Okay, it wasn't my fault this time! She won't stop! I didn't say anything today! She just came up to me and said I deserve it and then she beat me up!

Zayn: Nicole, this has to stop! Now, tell the truth. Is that the only cut you got today.

Nicole: ...(sighs) No.

Harry: (sighs) Are you wearing makeup?

Nicole: Yes.

Harry: (licks finger and rubs makeup off of Nicole) Nicole, you have a black eye!

Nicole: You think I haven't noticed that yet?

Louis: Why did you hide this one from the others too?

Nicole: I don't know. They would do something like call the school and file a report.

Niall: And what's so wrong with that?

Nicole: I don't want people to think differently of me again ever since... before.

Liam: Wait a second. Nicole, (sighs), did you really tell the others about your other fight?

Nicole: Yeah, why?

Liam: Well, why didn't the guys file a report the first time then?

Nicole: Uh...

Liam: Nicole!

Nicole: I'm sorry! I couldn't do it!

Harry: Nicole, we are not going to wait for you to step up and be responsible for your actions.

Nicole: Well, then don't! Forget about me! It's no big deal!

Niall: You always say that, Nicole, but it is a big deal. Its a huge deal!

Nicole: Stop! Just stop! I don't need this!

Louis: (sighs) Nicole, please. You may think that you're the only one in pain but think about the ones around you. How do they feel? What about them?

Nicole: I don't know.

Liam: Nicole, life is dumb and can have it's ups and downs but do you know how much you can take? You may have heard this saying before but, when you get knocked down, its your choice whether to get back up or not.

(Silence)

Harry: Guys, lets just leave her alone for a minute. It's a little too overwhelming.

The guys exited the room and closed my door. I thought about what they had said. Maybe I should tell the guys. It may not end well, but at least it will end. When One Direction left, the guys came home. I took a deep breath before opening my door, going downstairs and exposing my face to them. I finally did it though. When I went downstairs, the first person to notice was Calum, of course. (Calum's face when he noticed is on the first page).They all rushed to me. I explained myself. Finally. I did it. It took a whole hour to get the whole thing settled with. But at least it's over. Luke decided he wasn't going to call the school, but he was going to do a way better thing than that.
