Chapter 91

I woke and saw everybody sleeping around me. They were laying on the floor snoring and Calum's head was resting on my legs. My stomach felt a bit better but it was still in a lot of pain. I wanted to get up and text Jess, Emma, and Taylor but I knew it would be no use. I was kind of hungry though. Now this is something I have to get up for! If I need food, I'm getting it no matter the pain. I didn't want to wake anyone up like Calum so I took the pillow that was under my head and placed it under Calum's head so he wouldn't notice I was gone. After that, I still had to get through the crowd and sleeping bodies. I stepped over and across everyone and made it through. I went to the kitchen and thought of what to eat. I opened the fridge but felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I groaned loudly and then slapped my mouth. Oops! I hope I didn't wake anybody up. I peeked over to the living room and saw that they were still asleep. Thank goodness! I went back to the fridge that was now open and looked inside. I saw a box of yogurt tubes but they were down below. I'd have to bend over to get them. What should I do? So what I did was I made sure my back was straight and I bent my knees slowly down. I didn't look down to where the box was because that would actually make my back bend. I moved my hand around trying to find the box and I did. I pulled it out and took a yogurt tube. I put the box back but in a higher place and closed the fridge. After eating my yogurt tube, I decided to go back onto the couch. I was still really sleepy. I moved Calum's pillow and replaced my legs. I put the pillow under my head and tried falling asleep again. That was until I heard a knock on the door. I said to myself, "Oh, not again!" It took me several seconds but I managed to get passed everyone again. I opened the door to see Selena. "Hey, Nicole. Is Luke here?" She asked with a smile on her face.

Nicole: Well yeah but he's sleeping. So are 1D and The Vamps.

Selena: You have 1D and The Vamps over? Cool. Hey, aren't you supposed to be at school?

Nicole: Yeah, but -- (groans)

Selena: Nicole, are you okay?

Nicole: Uh, yeah, I'm fine.

Selena: Wait, are you the only one awake?

Nicole: Yeah.

Selena: Oh my, can I come in?

Nicole: Oh, yeah, of course.

I let Selena in and when she saw everyone on the ground she screamed, then covered her mouth like I did in the kitchen. A couple of people tossed and turned but they didn't wake up. Selena whispered to me, "Sorry, I thought they were dead bodies." We both silently laughed. "Here, you can come to my room," I said. We quietly went up to my room and Selena gasped at the sighting. "Wow! Your room is better than mine," she exclaimed.

Nicole: (laughs)

Selena: B-T-Dubbs (Btw; by the way), I heard your cat passed away. I'm sorry.

Nicole: It's okay. (Groans)

Selena: Nicole, that's the second time you've done that. Are you okay?

Nicole: Luke didn't tell you?

Selena: Tell me what? What happened?

Nicole: Today -- or yesterday -- I don't know. What time is it?

Selena: 5:40.

Nicole: So it must've been today. Anyway, at school I kind of got in a fight with this really mean girl, Hannah.

Selena: A physical fight?!

Nicole: Yeah, but I didn't do anything. She has been bullying me since she came to this school.

Selena: How did it start?

Nicole: Well I was hanging out with my friends in the hall and Hannah just came up to me and started making fun of me. I told her to back off and she punched me. I don't remember anything after that except for I had trouble breathing. I remember ending up in the nurses office. The nurse told me that I stopped breathing after being punched.

Selena: Oh my god! That's why you've been groaning!

Nicole: Yeah. There's a huge bruise on my stomach. (shows bruise)

Selena: (gasps) And the guys aren't even taking care of you?

Nicole: Well they were. But -- (groans)

Selena: It's okay, it's okay.

Nicole: They were taking care of me but I fell asleep which I guess caused them to fall asleep.

Selena: Oh. Well --

(James comes in)

James: Nicole! There you are! We were worried! And... hello there.

Selena: (laughs) Hi, I'm Luke's girlfriend. I came over to hang with Luke but Nicole answered the door and I just decided to hang out with her instead. And how dare you guys fall asleep! You left this poor girl to take care of herself? How immature! Real friends stay awake to take care of someone.

James: Oh, yeah. Oops.

Selena: Oops? Oh, puh-lease! Men.

James: Guys! She's in here! And she's got a friend.

Nicole: (groans)

James: Nicole, are you okay?

Nicole: I'm fine.

(Everyone runs in)

Luke: Selena!

Selena: Luke!

(Hugs! 😂)

Luke: Did Nicole call you over?

Selena: No, I came here for you but Nicole was all alone so I stayed with her. Now care to explain to me why you guys fell asleep? I think Nicole was the only one supposed to be resting.

Calum: Nicole, we are so sorry. How long were you awake?

Nicole: I don't know. About 10 minutes.

Niall: Why didn't you stay in bed?

Nicole: Well I wasn't sleepy and I had nothing to do.

Harry: Well how are you feeling?

Nicole: Fine. Way better actually. I think it's all healed.

Selena: But you were --

Nicole: I was feeling better. That's what I was.

Selena: (confused)

Brad: Okay, well we're gonna leave you two here, okay? Have fun. We'll just be downstairs.

Nicole: Okay.

Tristan: Call us if you need us.

Nicole: Sure thing.

(Everyone leaves)

Selena: What was that all about?

Nicole: I don't want them to take care of me.

Selena: What are you talking about?

Nicole: The guys slept because they were tired. I don't want them to be too exhausted from taking care of me. I wanna give them the least amount of work to do.

Selena: Nicole, are you sure about this?

Nicole: Yes, I'm sure.

Selena: (sighs) But if this gets out of hand and you can't take care of yourself, you tell them.

Nicole: Okay, I will. (Groans)

Selena: And how are you gonna keep those groans intact?

Nicole: (Sighs) I really don't know.
