Chapter 38

I woke up the next morning and I was still in the ditch. Wait a minute. I woke up. I woke up! I WOKE UP!!! I'M ALIVE! But still in pain. Mentally and physically. And now, there's more cars passing and they're going to see me. But I saw one car coming which looked like... LUKE'S CAR!!!!!!

CALUM'S POV

Where is she? I need to know. Who knows what could've happened to her? We called Jessica and the school and they both didn't know where she was. I'm freaking out. "Do you see her yet?" I asked. "No sign of her. But don't worry, Calum. We'll find her," Luke said. "Wait, there!!" Ashton pointed out.

NICOLE'S POV

I got out of the ditch and the car stopped. All 3 boys got out and came running to me. I ran too and I didn't care about the pain. They all hugged me. "NICOLE! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!?" Ashton freaked. It wasn't a mean or angry freak. It was a worried freak. "It's a really long story so can we go home first?" I said. I noticed my voice was very raspy and cold. "Of course," Luke mentioned. They all helped me to the car. When I got into the car, Calum said, "We need to get you to a hospital, Nicole. You look terrible." We drove to a hospital and the doctors fixed me up. Fixed me up, as in gave me some injections (multiple ones) and they gave me some pills. My eye was less swollen too. When we had got home. They all sat on the couch with me and told me to explain. I did. Here goes:

"Well, at school, some guy told me to meet him in the library after school because he wanted to get to know me. I wasn't thinking so I purposely missed the bus and went to the library. But when I got there he started touching me and he attempted to... to kiss me and other stuff. When I pushed him off and tried to leave, he stopped me and tripped me. I was on the ground and then he slapped me. He grabbed my arm really hard after and he had beaten me. When I finally pushed him off, I left the school and tried to look for other stuff to cover my bruises and my eye. I saw a hanger with a long sleeve shirt and put the shirt on. Then I kind of didn't know what to do because I was in so much pain so I kind of had the thought of just... dying. I thought about sleeping and never waking up. I stayed the whole night on the streets alone and scared. When I finally did sleep, I ended up waking up and finding your car. And that's it."

When I ended my story, I saw all three of them with expressions of horror. "Nicole... You... you went through so much pain. I feel so bad," Calum said. "Well, its over now, so can we just forget about it?" I said.

Luke: But, Nicole, we need to press charges on the guy that beat you.

Nicole: No. I've been through too much and I don't wanna do it.

Ashton: Nicole, we need to or else he's going to do it to somebody else.

Nicole: But it's going to change everything. People are going to look at me differently and I can't take that.

Calum: They will look at you differently but not in a bad way. People will notice you from everywhere and say, 'Wow. What a brave woman.'

Nicole: Woman?

Calum: Woman. You are not a child, Nicole. You are a grown woman. You are mature and if you went through this much pain, you can go through anything.

Nicole: Wow. Anything?

Luke: Anything.

Nicole: Then, I guess we should press charges.

Ashton: Great. I'll make the call.

Nicole: But this won't be much work for me, will it?

Ashton: Not at all. Let us do all of it and we'll see what comes after.

Nicole: Okay.

Luke: But until then, you need some rest. We'll call the school too and you'll have a break.

Calum: Why don't you go to your room and have some rest? I think you need some sleep in a proper bed than a ditch.

Nicole: You're right.

I went up to my room and slept. Thank god.

THREE WEEKS LATER

Nicole's eye has healed and so has her bruises. They pressed charges and Carson has been sent to jeu-venial delinquents. The whole situation is over and Nicole is back on track with the world, accomplishing anything.

"I think Sean should win," I said to the guys while we were watching Master Chef Junior. Calum said, "Yeah, I agree. He seems really smart and man, that shepherds pie looked delicious."

Ashton: I don't know. Samuel has the right mind and is very polite. I mean, did you see how accurate the icing was on those cupcakes?

Luke: Yeah, I agree with Ashton. His cupcakes looked awesome.

Nicole: Well, Sean is definitely going to win, no doubt.

Ashton: No, no, no, Samuel is going to win.

Calum: Well, Sean's got the brains.

Luke: Samuel has the talent!

TV: And we'll be back for Master Chef junior in a minute.

Ashton: Aww! We missed whether Samuel made a good dish!

Nicole: Well, we missed whether Sean made a good dish!

Luke: I think that both of those guys will be in the top 2.

Calum: Yeah, definitely.

Nicole: I agree.

Ashton: Of course.

Calum: Speaking of food, Ashton, can you set the table? They should be coming soon.

Nicole: Who?

Luke: Oh, a band that we are very good friends with. It's One Direction.

Nicole: Oh, I've heard of them.

Ashton: And they've heard of you. They actually happen to be huge fans.

Nicole: Of me? Why me?

Calum: Nicole, do you know who you are to the world?

Nicole: No.

Calum: You're famous.

Nicole: I'm famous?

Luke: Yeah! I mean, you have more fans than us.

Nicole: I do?

Ashton: Yep.

Nicole: But why am I famous?

Calum: Nicole, everybody has been inspired by you to keep going, to try hard. You are an inspiration and you know, One Direction are the ones who asked to come here.

Nicole: What do you mean?

Ashton: Well we didn't invite One Direction over. They all asked to come over so they could meet you.

Nicole: Oh my gosh! Thats amazing!

Luke: Yeah, and they are really excited to meet you!

Nicole: Awesome!
