After my talk with Cyris, I'd sequestered myself in the library, going through every book about magic I could find, trying to find a way to break the curse on the man I loved. The sun was setting, but I barely noticed as I kept flipping through pages of spells and incantations. Nothing seemed strong enough to counteract Akodic's curse. There had to be a way out of this.

Think...Akodic is the God of Death...how do you shatter a spell performed by the God of Death? I asked myself. I glanced at the title of the next book, "Myths and Legends of Riofalt" and started flipping through it. Finally stopping on an image of a young woman. I looked at the caption and gasped.

Argyn, the Goddess of Life.

Every spell had a counterspell. Every potion had an opposite one that could cancel it out. Every ritual had one that could reverse the effects. Was it possible that Argyn was the key to breaking the curse on Cyris? She was Akodic's direct opposite. The book mentioned the location of her temple, but didn't mention anything about her dealings. There was a hymn used to summon her, but nothing about if she even answered the call of those who sought her out, but I knew I had to try. For Cyris. I looked out the window, noticing how dark it was. I'd need to move fast if I wanted to make it to Argyn's temple and get back here before sunrise. I ripped the page out of the book and rushed off.

I went to my room, Cyris had opted to keep sleeping in a different room, much to my dismay. He didn't want to disturb my sleep since I was carrying our child. I grabbed a flashlight and a couple of healing potions. I slipped the healing potions into the back pocket of my jeans and threw on a jacket before rushing down to the foyer. I went outside and turned on the flashlight so I could see.

"Where do you think you're going?" a voice behind me asked.

I whirled around and found my brother standing there and he looked unimpressed. I sighed, knowing I was caught.

"To Argyn's Temple," I admitted.

"Why?"

"Every spell has a direct opposite. Argyn is the Goddess of Life...Akodic's direct opposite," I explained. "She might be able to break Cyris' curse. Please Kian...I have to do this."

"You're being reckless," he told me. "Your love for Cyris is reckless, Rose. Going to the temple is a huge risk. Please just think about this."

"I have thought about it," I assured him. "And I'm going."

Kian sighed as he started walking toward me, It was then that I noticed he was wearing a jacket.

"Hang on, where are you going?" I quizzed.

"With you, obviously," he huffed.

"What? Why?"

"If you think I'd actually let you go alone, then you're insane."

I rolled my eyes at his comment, but I was grateful that he was coming with me. "Fine," I relented.

We walked through the woods for a while before finally reaching a building made of agate. There were golden torches on either side of the door and they lit themselves as we approached. The exterior of the temple was beautiful.

We entered and the door closed behind us. The torches around the room lit themselves, revealing an altar complete with a massive statue of a woman. She wore a hooded cloak and the hood was down. She held a tree sapling in one hand and staff in the other. Her cloak was clasped with an ankh and a few butterflies sat perched on her left shoulder.
