I woke up to a soft gasp and turned to find Rosanna shivering in bed next to me. The room was freezing. Something was wrong. Her eyes flew open and she let out another gasp. I curled my body next to hers, trying to give her more warmth.

"Babe, are you okay? The room's getting pretty cold..."

"I'm freezing...Cyris..." Rosanna told me. Mist escaped her lips as she spoke. It was so cold that she could see her own breath.

I was in complete shock. Rosanna was freezing? My heart dropped and my stomach was tied up in knots. Rosanna couldn't be cold, she never got cold!

"You're freezing!? How is that even possible!?" I panicked. I got up quickly and grabbed a blanket from our closet. I went back to the bed and wrapped the blanket around her.

Rosanna was still shivering "I...I don't know," she admitted. She cried out in pain and pulled back the blankets, revealing the ice creeping up her legs. "Oh Gods...what...what is this...?"

"Rose! Hold on!" I exclaimed. I grabbed my phone from the side table and called Sidra.

"Sidra, I'm sorry to wake you like this... Yes, please, bring as many blankets as you can find... Yes, blankets! It's Rose! She...she is freezing over..."

I hung up and clung to Rosanna as tightly as I could. Several minutes later, Sidra and two other maids burst into the master suit. Each of them held three blankets and they all rushed over to us.

"What happened?" Sidra asked frantically as she looked over Rosanna's body. She and the maids started covering Rosanna with the blankets.

"Cyris...I'm...I'm not d-doing this..." she admitted as the temperature dropped even more.

"What do you mean it's not you? How can it not be you? Who else has ice magic?" I asked.

"I...I w-wouldn't be sh-shivering like this if it was me, Cyris..." Rosanna said as she continued shivering. "I use my own aura to p-protect you when I make it this c-cold. I'm usually impervious to the c-cold. This...this f-feels...d-different..."

I felt completely useless. I had no idea how to help my wife or child. What was I supposed to do? How was I supposed to fix this? I needed to fix this, it was my job, wasn't it?!

"Our s-son..." Rosanna said softly.

"Our son?" I repeated.

At first I didn't understand what Rosanna was trying to tell me, but it only took a few moments before I realized what she was saying. Our son was the magic user, he was the one showing his ice power. Somehow we had to settle him down.

"W-When I was h-hurt by the amulet...he w-was too. Polaris even s-said he inherited my ice p-powers..."

Of course he was! It was all making sense now. If only we could hold him, making him feel comforted. He would know that everything was okay now.

"Can you calm him down?" I asked. There had to be a way to soothe him. Maybe Rosanna could do something.

"I...I can t-try...he m-must have gotten scared...during the f-fight with...Megara and this is him p-projecting that f-fear...I can t-try using m-my m-magic to c-calm him..."

"What can we do to help?!" Sidra added.

"Keep her warm," I uttered.

The ice was creeping up Rosanna's legs.

"K-Keep me warm and...t-try n-not to let this ice get too f-far up my b-body...otherwise I may b-become encased in it..." Rosanna told us as she shivered. She was still cold despite all the blankets on her body.

I nodded and let my power rise within me until my eyes changed to deep blue and my veins glowed. I placed my hand on Rosanna's belly and did what I could to help calm our son. Sidra had the maids go get more blankets and towels, as well as fresh warm clothes for Rosanna. Once they came back, the three of them worked around me to get Rosanna changed as quickly as they could.

Rosanna shivered again and shook her head at me. "I n-need you to k-keep his ice in ch-check, Cyris...I can't c-calm him, if I'm f-frozen..." she told me.

I nodded and melted as much ice as I could. For the moment, Rosanna was fully naked, as the baby's ice continued to fight me back. Rosanna used her magic and covered one of her hands in frost. She placed that hand on her stomach and I felt her send some soothing icy energy through the air as she tried to calm our son down.

"It's okay little Prince...Mommy's okay...so is Daddy..." Rosanna told our son.

The ice continued to fight back, and Rosanna continued to send soothing icy energy to our son, desperately trying to calm him. It took a while, but eventually our son calmed down and the temperature slowly returned to normal. Rosanna's body warmed up, and the ice began to vanish. My beloved wife turned to look at me. There was relief in her eyes.

"He's a strong little baby, isn't he?" I smiled.

Sidra and the maids helped Rose change and get into dry, warm clothes. I stayed out of their way until they were finished. And once they were, they gathered all of the wet clothing and towels, as well as the extra blankets and left the master suite.

"How do you feel now?" I asked her. I placed my hand back on her stomach.

"Better, less cold," she assured me before biting her lip. "I...I felt his fear... He was terrified, Cyris...terrified for me...my recent fear and anger must have set him off."

I kissed Rosanna's belly. "Your mother is alright now," I voiced.

"Can you come here, please?" Rosanna asked. "I'm still a bit cold..."

"Right! Great idea! Just give me one second."

"Thank you, love. I didn't realize how strong our son would be," she stated. "Though I shouldn't be surprised given who his father is..."

Her voice got softer as I grabbed the fur blanket we kept on the couch. I looked at Rosanna, who was sleeping peacefully in our bed. I smiled to myself and climbed into bed next to her before draping the blanket over her and curling up next to her, snuggling as close to her as I could so I could share my body heat. The sound of her steady breathing was enough to lull me off into a peaceful slumber.
