Rosanna and I had got into an unexpected battle with some woman named Tamara. At the end of it, Rosanna had fainted, but I caught her just in time. I brought her back to the apartment, laid her down and stayed with her until she woke up. I was too wired to lay down so I placed a chair by her bed and sat there, thinking about what went down with that Trillium witch. Rosanna has had ties to the Trillium Regime all along! And now it was known! This wasn't good, and it didn't help that the Trillium Regime would now know that Rosanna and I were associated with each other. We both really were on the run now... on the run together. I heard a gasp and Rosanna sat up in bed, trying to catch her breath.
"Babe!" I placed my hand on her back and checked her out. "Are you okay? I was worried."
"I'm okay," she assured me. Then she started shaking as she recalled the events of the evening. It got cold rather quickly and I knew that she was upset.
"Rose... calm down, we're fine, you're fine-"
"It's not fine!" she objected, "That-that evil, little bit-"
"Vasia, you should just relax. Get out of those clothes, take a shower..."
"I can't stop thinking about it, Dewdrop," she told me. "She's the reason I had to run from Cliffbarrow. I... I didn't know she was with the Trillium. I didn't even know she had magic. She was my friend and she lied to my face for years and tried to get me arrested for an accident." The temperature dropped a bit more.
"Rosanna..." I soothed her. I laid her back down, took off my shoes and got into bed with her. "I'm sorry that this happened. I brought you into this."
"It's not your fault, Cyris," she assured me. "I just... I don't get it. Why would she do that?"
"I'm not sure... People do things for all sorts of reasons. I'm sorry you were betrayed. But now we know the truth." I bit my lip. I knew my words weren't much, and deep down Tamara and Rosanna having a past really bothered me. My beloved Vasia had a target on her back now.
"Something's wrong," Rosanna noted. "Tell me what's wrong, Cyris."
"I never wanted... I didn't think about the consequences of your involvement. Farryn was right..."
"You couldn't have predicted this."
"You should take a shower," I urged. "It will make you feel better." I changed the subject, not wanting to worry Rosanna.
"A shower does sound nice," she relented. "Okay, I'll just be a few minutes then." She kissed my lips softly and got out of bed. I watched her leave the room with a heavy heart.
I decided to get some fresh air, and went out to the balcony.
"Farryn," I voiced. She appeared seconds later in a cloud of red smoke, and stood beside me in silence. Eventually she spoke.
"What's wrong, Cyris?" she asked, concerned for me.
"I screwed up. You were right! This was the worst idea ever! Tonight we were attacked by some chick named Tamara who apparently is an ex friend of Rosanna's from her childhood," I rambled. "And Tamara is part of the Trillium Regime, so now they'll be after Rose too! On top of that, she's determined to travel to Riofalt because she's been having these dreams... How are we supposed to go now?!"
"Cyris... you didn't know about any of this," Farryn told me. "And I'm sure you tried to protect her."
"But you warned me! And I didn't listen."
