I woke up the next morning to Rosanna's body curled up to mine. Satisfaction and contentment coursed through my veins. I tried not to wake her as I slid out of bed, heading to the bathroom, but she stirred anyway.
"Mm...good morning, Cyris..." she said in a sleep filled voice.
"Morning, Vasia," I told her as I kissed her lips softly. I pulled away after a few moments. "Did I wake you?'
"No," she assured me as she opened her eyes.
She looked so calm while she slept. I really did try not to wake her... I smiled at my wife and kissed her forehead.
"I have to shower, and then prepare for the coronation. Ugh and that ball! Who started that tradition, anyway?!" I huffed.
"At least we'll get to dance together," she replied. "I guess I can't be crowned beside you. I mean...we're not exactly officially married yet."
She was right. We weren't officially married yet, and I didn't like that. So, it was going to change very soon.
"I'm sorry, Vasia," I sighed and placed my hand on her cheek gently. "After the coronation, as soon as possible, I will crown you my Queen by law, I promise."
"Don't apologize, Cyris. It's not your fault," she told me. She kissed the inside of my wrist and I moved to head to the bathroom to shower, but she stopped me. "Ever since we moved into this room...something's been bothering me...and I'm bringing this up now because we need to talk about it..."
I sat back down on the bed and gave her my full attention. "What is it? Tell me..."
"Cyris...I know this is the master suite and it's our room now, but I just...I want to make sure you're okay because this room used to be..." she trailed off.
"My parents' room?" I asked.
"Yeah." She bit her lip. "If that's a problem then we don't have to sleep here. We can switch rooms or redecorate or even renovate. Is staying in this room a problem?"
I hesitated to answer. It was hard being back in this castle, even harder to take over my parents' room. It made me think about how ready I was to be King of Espor... Was I even ready? Was I in way over my head? But...it wasn't like I could say no to my responsibilities...
"I'm here for you...I'm here to share your burden if you'll let me...you can talk to me," Rosanna assured me.
"I know..." I ran my hand through my hair. "It is a bit difficult...but I want to stay here, in this room."
"Then we'll stay here, but Cyris...you're not alone in this...you know that, don't you?"
I wasn't alone? I wasn't alone... I could do this because I wasn't alone. Because I had Rosanna beside me, I felt more confident. I gave her a big smile, and nodded.
"I love you and you're going to be an amazing King. I guess I'll have to start calling you, Your Majesty, and thank you for sparing time for me," Rosanna chuckled.
Hearing her melodic chuckle brought me back to the present. "I love you too, Rose. You'll be an even more amazing Queen," I expressed.
She kissed my lips briefly. "Go shower. You need to get ready, nav raxo," she told me softly.
