After Rosanna went into her bedroom, there was no need to pretend to be strong anymore. My heart was still in pieces, and all I wanted was to have Rosanna back in my arms. I crept to her door, and placed my hand against it. I ached for her, I desperately wished I could rewrite our story so that I made the choice to confess to Rosanna sooner. I wanted to be closer to her, I needed her, but I knew it would take time to make it up to her. How much time, was what I didn’t know.

I sank down to the floor and rested my head against the wall. Seeing the amount of anguish in her exhilarating green eyes cut me to the core. I never meant to cause her any pain and not only had I shattered her heart, I’d hurt her physically as well. My magic had hurt her. I had hurt her…! Tears fell from my eyes and I bit back sobs as I wept. I’d hurt the one person that mattered most to me. I had hurt my Vasia…my Snowflake…my love…my Rosanna.

The next morning I woke up with my body very sore. It felt like I was run over by a train. I got up and headed straight for the bathroom, not thinking to knock, and Rosanna was already in there brushing her teeth. I felt my cheeks burn, and became flustered instantly. Staying here was going to be much more awkward than I first imagined.

“I-I’m sorry...morning by the way,” I uttered.

I noticed that there were dark circles under her eyes. Had she slept at all?

“Morning,” she replied tiredly. “It’s fine, I’m almost done.”

“Yeah, I’ll just...go out to the living room and wait,” I replied. I felt like I was walking on eggshells, one wrong move and I’d mess everything up all over again. I was thankful I stayed in my clothes last night, or this would have just been one giant nightmare.

Rosanna nodded slowly. I went back to the living room and plopped down on the couch. I ran my fingers through my hair roughly, then rested my head against the back of the couch.

Eventually, the bathroom door opened and Rosanna stepped out. “All yours, Cyris,” she told me.

Rosanna’s voice startled me and I jumped, “Oh! Uh, thanks, I’m gonna take a shower... Not that you needed to know that or anything...” I was so lame around her...

“I’ll just be on the balcony if…if you need anything,” she informed me.

I nodded and smiled politely. She headed for the balcony, and I watched her walk away with sorrow. My heart hurt and I wasn’t exactly happy about the atmosphere between Rosanna and me, but I had to endure it. I made sure I’d brought clothes with me so I could change in the bathroom after I was done showering. I got lost in my thoughts as the shower water sprayed down on my body; I stayed in until my fingers were pruny, then decided to get out. As I dried off, I could hear faint yelling coming through the door.

I rushed to finish drying, leaving my hair damp, then got dressed hurriedly. I snuck into the living room, and leaned against the wall closest to the balcony to hear better. Rosanna and Farryn were fighting, but I wasn't sure why at first.

“That’s not a good coping mechanism for him, Farryn! In fact, it’s not a coping mechanism at all!” Rosanna shouted.

“He doesn’t need to cope when something like that happens, Rose! He needs to be stopped before he hurts anyone else!”

“I know a thing or two about not wanting to hurt anyone with magic, but he needs to be able to bring himself back. And you’re just suppressing his ability to cope when you put him to sleep, Farryn! He doesn’t need to be stopped, he needs to cope and learn how to bring himself back! So don’t lecture me on the dangers of hurting people with magic! Cyris needs to learn to cope!”
