Ren and I got out of the car as the motorcade rolled to a stop in front of the front door of the castle. Sidra was outside waiting for us when we arrived. She hugged me and kissed her brother's cheek, but I couldn't experience the joy of our reunion. Something was calling out to me. It was faint... but I heard it.

Cyris...

That voice was one I knew all too well. Rosanna. Concern flowed through my body as I turned to Sidra.

"Where's Rose?" I panicked.

"Oh, she's in a meeting with Lord Byron..." Sidra replied.

"Alone?!"

Without warning I took off as fast as I could as my wife's icy aura called out to me again.

Cyris... please...

"Well, yes... sort of, Polaris went with her, but she told me not to come. She said she'd be fine!" Sidra informed me, getting a bit frantic as she and Ren chased after me as I stormed through the castle, heading to the Council chamber.

"My King, what's wrong?!" Ren asked as he kept pace with me. Fear and pain flowed through my body. And neither of those emotions were my own.

"I can feel her! It's hard to explain! We have to find her," I said breathlessly.

Cyris... please... help...

I ended up skidding to a stop in front of the Council chamber. This is where she was. I burst into the room and to my utter horror, I saw Byron choking Rosanna. Suffocating her. Killing her. She was making noises as she struggled to breathe.

"Rose!" I screamed. I turned to Byron and rage overtook me. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

My power peaked instantly, and I knew my eyes had flickered to black as my veins glowed blue. Then water swirled around me quickly. I sent a wave of energy at Byron, sending him flying to the other side of the room. Rosanna fell to the ground and gasped for air. She rested a hand on her stomach and that look in her eyes told me all I needed to know. She was worried about our baby.

Sidra rushed over to Rosanna and comforted her. My cousin sobbed, feeling guilty that she wasn't able to prevent this. Ren moved and took a protective stance in front of Sidra and Rosanna. I turned my attention to Lord Byron, then noticed an unconscious Polaris laying on the floor nearby. He'd must have tried to protect Rosanna and been incapacitated in the process. I moved towards Byron, towering over him.

"Cyris..." I heard Rosanna call out weakly. I glanced back at her, noticing the handprint shaped bruise on her neck from Byron choking her. I turned my attention back to Byron. My rage was out of control as I stared down at him. He left a bruise around my wife's neck! I gritted my teeth and clenched my hands into fists at my sides.

"K-King Cyris, it's not what it looks like," Byron blurted.

"Liar!" Ren growled. Then he turned to me. "My King, don't dirty your hands with this scum. Let me handle him."

"No...this is beyond disrespect... He tried to murder my wife!" I held my balled fist out in front of me, and Byron started choking loudly.

"Cyris..." Rosanna called out again, but I was too focused on Byron. I did note that her voice was getting weaker.

"CYRIS!" Sidra shouted, breaking my focus and I stopped choking Byron with my magic.

Ren and I turned around and looked at Sidra and Rosanna, concerned. My wife's eyes were getting heavy. She looked like she was going to pass out soon.
