I followed Kian out to the gardens and turned to face him.
"What did you want to discuss?" I asked.
"What you and Rose did out there...that was impressive," Kian told me. "How long have you been able to draw from each other like that?"
"We're still pretty new at it...it's only been several weeks," I replied.
"Well you both seem experienced. The fact that you were able to draw from her and create a hailstorm hurricane... I've only ever read about bonds as close as yours seems to be."
I wasn't sure if he was complimenting us. I mean, why would Kian compliment our connection?
"...Thanks."
He took a deep breath. "Cyris...the way you protected each other out there...it convinced me in a way..."
Convinced him? What did he mean? I didn't respond, and I looked at him expectantly.
"I'm giving you my blessing to marry my sister," Kian told me. "Just...please...don't hurt her...and prove to me that I didn't just make a stupid decision."
"Wait, for real?!" I asked, excitedly. Was this really happening? "Like, don't joke around...are you being serious?!"
"I am," Kian assured me.
"You-You have no idea how much this means to me!" I cheered. I was so happy I did a funny jig; it seemed to be uncontrollable. "I swear, you won't regret your decision. I'll show you the kind of man I am."
I rushed back to the library and spotted Rosanna and Arissa sitting on the floor near the fire. I went over to my Vasia and tackled her in a hug, the force of it knocked us both over.
"What has you so happy, love?" she asked.
"Oh nothing. Kian and I are just...finally getting along," I replied with a smile.
"Well I'm glad to hear it," she stated as she sat up. She moved to sit on my lap and kissed me deeply. A little too deeply and soon we both ended up on the ground again, laughing. I'd gotten her brother's blessing. Now I didn't have to worry. I could marry her without any worries.

It had been three days and it felt like we were going in circles. At this point we had exhausted all of our resources. It was late afternoon and Rosanna and I were flipping through books in the library.
"This is hopeless," I sighed.
"We need a concrete plan before we go marching into Espor," Rosanna reasoned. "The only way to do that is to learn as much as possible."
