I had left the bar and was in a hurry to get back to my apartment. It was dark out and walking alone in the dark was dangerous, especially if you were a woman. It didn't matter if I had magic or not, it was still dangerous. And knowing Polaris, he'd scold me for taking a risk like this as opposed to waiting for him to walk with me. But he'd been late getting to the bar and I couldn't wait for him anymore.
So I decided to risk walking the streets, on my own, in the dark. I needed to get home. After a few minutes of walking, I spotted three men standing near an alley. I noticed the leering looks they were giving me and began walking a little faster, trying to get as far away from them as I could.
"Hey sweetheart!" one of them called out, but I knew better than to answer. I ignored him and kept walking, picking up the pace a little. I didn't want to stay here any longer than I had to, especially with these guys around.
"Why don't you come over here for a minute?" another called out. I didn't respond as I tried to get out of there. But their voices were getting louder as they caught up, then one of the men appeared in front of me and grabbed my wrist.
"Where do you think you're going sweetheart?" he asked.
"Take your hands off me!" I growled.
"Or what?" he sneered.
"Or you'll find yourself recovering from hypothermia," I replied. The air around us grew cold and my eyes turned icy blue. The man let go and backed up in fear, there were icicles hanging from his fingertips.
The other men growled and surrounded me. My eyes were still an icy blue. Seriously, where was Polaris? I could really use his help right now.
There was a shout from behind me and I turned around to find a man with dark, inky black hair and bright hazel eyes standing there. It took me a moment to realize that he was the same man from the bar. The man created a hand sign I had never seen before, and it definitely wasn't any sort of sign language. Suddenly, I heard faint whistling noises as something zoomed past my ears, and in seconds both men behind me fell to the ground.
"I'd leave before things get ugly," the mysterious man told me. "I'd rather you didn't see this."
His eyes glowed a dark blue, but they were still bright enough I could still see them in the dark. I could feel that my eyes were still an icy blue as my power resonated within me, but I decided it was probably best to take his advice and get out of there. He'd most likely seen my magic, which was another problem, but for now I needed to get out of there. So I ran.
