After I fed the twins, Cyris and I went down to eat some breakfast. We left the twins to be looked after by Tessa, one of the maids. Tessa was a sweet young woman and I knew I could trust her to look after our children for a little while.
My husband and I entered the dining hall and found Sidra, Kian, Arissa, and Ren already sitting at the table, loading up their plates. There were eggs, toast, muffins, waffles, and bacon. The royal family and castle guests were always the first to eat, and then the staff ate in shifts and anything remaining was given to the soup kitchens in Blackwater to serve to those in need.
Finally, I was free to eat my favorite foods again, and I could take in the smell without feeling sick. Cyris and I sat down, then started making our own plates. All of us started eating together happily, enjoying each other's presence as we did.
"How are the infants?" Arissa asked.
"They're perfect," I replied. "Cyris had a sweet little moment with Catryn last night. It was stormy outside and she was scared."
"Cyris! Don't tell me you're cheating on Rose," Sidra chimed in as she smirked.
"Sidra, Cyris isn't capable of cheating on me and I know that," I scolded her.
"Who is this mysterious Catryn then?" Ren asked jokingly.
I pulled out my phone and showed off the photo I'd taken earlier of Cyris and Catryn in the rocking chair. Arissa and Sidra swooned over it. Ren grinned as he examined the photo.
"It's so cute that you're already wrapped around her finger," Arissa giggled.
"Wait...did you say Catryn? Did you name the twins?!" Sidra exclaimed.
"We did," I admitted.
"Tell us!" Arissa demanded.
Cyris glanced at me with a huge grin.
"Our son is Prince Marcellus Ondreus Castellan and our daughter is Princess Catryn Ilaria Nerida Castellan," I told the others with a glittering smile. Tears glistened in Kian's eyes as he turned to look at me.
"For Mom and Dad?" he asked.
I nodded and tears fell from my brother's eyes. It was an emotional moment for us both. I'd named my children after my parents; the father that loved me and the mother that died protecting me. Arissa kissed Kian on his cheek and held his hand in comfort, trying to soothe his pain.
"Those names...they're perfect!" Sidra beamed.
"That's what we said too," Cyris told his cousin. "The perfect names for the perfect set of twins..."
I turned to my husband.
"When I walked into the nursery this morning, I felt the remains of a water magic spell. Were you using your powers to entertain and calm our daughter last night?" I asked.
Cyris shook his head eagerly. "More like our daughter was trying to entertain me," he said with a big grin. "She's very powerful."
I chuckled, "Well at least we know one thing for sure then..." Cyris raised an eyebrow at me. "Catryn is going to be a very commanding Princess. Her magic was likely what caused me to go into labour early. And if she has your powers that means our son has mine."
