Piarari Key
Vasia (vah-sia): snowflake

Arissa and I were sitting in the library, reading up on Espor. There wasn't much about that kingdom in the library, which wasn't surprising, but it was worth a shot. Felix was making some lunch. As I flipped through the pages of a history book, an extremely intense pain shot through me, it was burning through my body like poison in my veins. It was so excruciating that I couldn't help but cry out.
"What is it Rose?! Are you okay?" Arissa questioned.
"Something's wrong..." I choked out. "It's... it's like a part of me is in pain... crying out for help."
Another round of pain coursed through my veins. Then I heard his voice in my head.
Vasia...Rose...please! Help...help me!
"Cyris," I gasped.
"Cyris?!" she exclaimed. Her eyes widened with fear. "Kian!"
"Cyris and I are linked. We bound our magic together to be able to draw from each other in battle," I explained. "This pain...it must be his...we need to help them!"
Arissa jumped up and threw on sneakers and a jacket. She ran to the room she shared with Kian and came back with matching daggers that she clipped into a belt around her waist. I got on my shoes and the two of us rushed outside and I used my link with Cyris to guide us to them. I spotted Kian fighting a couple of guards. He seemed to be doing okay. Then I saw Cyris. He was on his knees in front of two Trillium guards and I cursed. I skidded to a stop in front of them.
"Leave him alone," I growled.
"And what are you going to do about it?" they asked. They started blasting at us and I tossed up a wall of ice to protect us from their dark powers. Cyris was drained, he needed strength. I glanced back at him and nodded. I shifted so that I was controlling the shield with one hand and extending the other back towards Cyris. He took it and I lent him some of my strength.
Cyris drew on my powers and stood up. He immediately went on the offensive, summoning a hail storm hurricane. I dropped the ice wall and helped him hold on to the storm. The power was too much for one person to bear. All four guards got swept up in the hurricane and the massive pieces of hail pummelled them. They cried out and when the storm subsided they were all lying on the ground.
"You messed with the wrong people," I growled.
I borrowed some of Cyris' magic and started freezing the water in the guards' veins. They screamed, but I iced their mouths shut and froze their hands and feet to the ground. Thinking they'd had enough, I stopped freezing the water in their bodies and let my power fade. My eyes went from a bright angry silver to their usual striking green.
Arissa and Kian came running toward us. They were both breathless and Kian had a small cut on his forehead.
"Are you guys okay?" I asked Arissa, Kian, and Cyris. I turned to my beloved Prince and gave him a quick once over. He didn't look hurt, but Cyris was known to downplay his injuries.
"Yes, we're good?" he looked at Kian. Kian nodded his head.
"What the hell happened?" I asked.
"Not exactly sure. We were gathering the wood when those four goons came out of nowhere," Kian answered.
"Cyris...I heard your cry for help..." I admitted. "That's how I knew to come for you."
"You—You, what? How?" he asked me.
"Our bond, my love," I told him as I rested my forehead against his. "Our magic bond runs deep. You were in danger. I felt your pain and heard your cry for help. So I came running."
Cyris sighed at my words, and placed a hand on the side of my neck. He rubbed his thumb across my cheek and smiled.
"I'm your Vasia, Cyris," I told him softly. "I'll always come to help you. All you have to do is call out to me."
"I love you," he stated.
"I love you too," I replied as I brushed my lips against his. "I felt your pain, Cyris. Are you sure you aren't hurt?"
"Cyris, let's get this wood and get these ladies back inside," Kian proposed.
"Are you okay carrying the wood, love?" I asked Cyris as he picked up the wood. He'd been in a lot of pain. And I wanted to make sure he was okay.
"Yeah..." he groaned. "My body is really sore, but I can carry some wood."
I grabbed some of the wood from him and the four of us went back to the palace library. Cyris dropped the wood by the fireplace and collapsed onto one of the couches. He was holding his shoulder in pain. I peeled back his shirt a little and noticed the bruise.
"I was slammed into a tree," he admitted. "I...I don't usually bruise this easily."
"Caja's poison must have left your shoulder weakened," I reasoned. It made sense, this was the same shoulder that Caja had sunk her fangs into when she poisoned Cyris back in Silverport.
I turned my hand to frost and gently placed it on his shoulder. He hissed and I turned to Arissa. "There are some healing potions in the room I've been using, you'll find them in my bag," I told her. "Could you please bring me a few?" She nodded and left the library.
"You didn't have to carry that wood if you were hurt, my love," I told him.
"I...I didn't want to worry you anymore than I already had," he admitted.
I rested my forehead against his and he closed his eyes, letting my close proximity consume him. "I'm going to be your wife, Cyris," I told him. "I'll always worry about you."
Arissa returned with the healing potions. I poured one over the bruise and handed another to Cyris for him to drink. He drank it and his bruise cleared up.
"How do you feel?" I asked.
"Better...thank you, Vasia," he replied softly.
I nodded and kissed his lips softly.
"Cyris," I heard Kian call out. The two of us turned to look at him and I noticed that Arissa had bandaged the small cut on his forehead. "Are you well enough to take a walk with me?"
Cyris nodded and stood. Arissa and I watched as the two of them left the library. Kian was being nice to Cyris...? Did something happen out there in the woods? I wasn't sure, but I knew something had obviously changed between the two of them. But...what was the cause?
