It had only been three days, but being back home with Rosanna again was great! I made sure she spent most of her time in bed, and that everything she needed or wanted was easily accessible. I didn't want her to exert herself more than necessary. The thing that did suck about being home was having to deal with the responsibilities that came along with it. It gave me a headache just thinking about it.

And then there was Frederick Byron, the Lord that tried to kill Rosanna. I still had to deal with him, but to be honest, I'd been avoiding it. I was nervous about being in the same room with him, fearful that I'd get so angry that I would end his life. We needed information and we couldn't get it if I'd killed him. However, at the same time, I had to face him, and I was going to do that today.

Rosanna and I were approaching the doors of the throne room when I looked over at her. Her face was neutral, her facade was up and I knew it.

"Are you sure you want to do this? You don't have to be in there," I told her and squeezed her hand gently.

"Yes I do," she replied. This was the first time she would be facing Byron since the attack. "I need to see him punished for what he did and more importantly...I need to be strong in front of the Court..."

I nodded and faced the door. We waited until we were announced by the herald, and then we walked into the throne room with our heads held high. The throne room was already full of Lords and Ladies and they bowed to Rosanna and me as we passed by them. We walked up the steps of the platform and sat down on our thrones.

After a few minutes, Ren dragged Byron in. Byron was cuffed and looked like he hadn't slept well. Good, I thought to myself. Ren threw him to the floor at the base of the platform and I saw Rosanna grip the armrests of her throne tightly. Some fear flashed in her eyes, though she tried not to let it show. I grabbed her hand gently, and discreetly, trying to comfort her.

Small slivers of ice appeared on the edges of the armrests of Rosanna's throne. They weren't very noticeable to everyone else, but it was enough to tell me that she wasn't okay. I started rubbing the back of her hand, and she glanced at me. I gave her a reassuring nod and she returned the gesture. She wanted to appear strong in front of the Court.

"Lord Frederick Byron comes before you to be sentenced, My King, My Queen," Ren declared.

"Please... My King...have mercy...I didn't mean to-" Byron began.

"Hold your tongue!" I roared. My temper flared so quickly I couldn't stop it. I knew this was going to happen...

"But-"

"You heard your King!" Ren cut in.

Rosanna's hands started trembling as she took in the sight of Byron.

Byron's demeanor changed and he smirked. "Is the little ice witch afraid?" he asked, and I became outraged immediately.

How did he get under my skin so easily?! Why couldn't I keep my emotions under control with this man?! I stood up hastily and stormed down the steps of the throne. I stood face to face with Byron while Ren held him still.
