Chapter 63: No Going Back

Clem's POV: ( Flashback )

???: Clementine.

I wake up from a bad dream and look to see Lee, I also see (Y/N) sleeping. I also see Ben sitting on a chair, Kenny and Katjaa sitting at the front of the RV with Duck.

Me: Lee...?

Lee: It's just a bad dream, sweet pea. What was it about? Duck?

Me: He's bit...

Lee: We don't know how this works yet. Maybe it's like a cold.

Me: It's not like a cold.

Lee: No... it's probably not.

Me: I feel bad.

Lee: Why?

Me: I called him a crybaby... when I hid the bug in his pillow.

Lee: Oh, that's okay, honey. You didn't mean it.

Me: Lee...

Lee: Hmm?

Me: Why did Lilly do that to (Y/N)'s sister?

Lee: *shrugs* I don't know. She was sad, Clem. That can make people angry sometimes.

Me: Because of her dad?

Lee: Yeah. I just hope (Y/N) gets better.

Me: I do too.

Lee: Clem, people don't always make sense.

Me: How come?

Lee: 'Cause bad things happen to everyone. And it's hard to keep bein' yourself after they do. Which is why (Y/N) started screaming at Lilly, do you think we should've let her stay?

Me: I don't think so. And I think (Y/N) would be very mad.

Lee: I guess so. But it wasn't easy. I don't know if we did the right thing.

Me: How can you tell?

Lee: Well, it's not like math, Clem. Sometimes there just isn't a right answer.

Me: I hate math.

Lee: *chuckles* Me too, sweet pea. Yeah, but part of growing up is doing what's best for the people you care about... even if sometimes... that means hurting someone else.

Me: I don't want to hurt anyone.

Lee: It's not that easy.

Me: I'm scared, Lee.

Lee: What can I tell you to make it better?

I think for a moment.

Me: That you and (Y/N) won't leave me.

Lee: Oh, we wouldn't do that. I promise. Everything's gonna be all right.

I start crying a bit before I rest my head on Lee's shoulder.

Lee: Now let's try to get some sleep.

Me: Okay, Lee...

I close my eyes as I feel Lee lean my head down on something, but I didn't care and went to sleep.
