Chapter #49
Sarah’s POV
Being away at college has been stressful. I’m in my first semester and my grades haven’t been that great. I have a C in Calculus and Science. The classes are just so boring and hard to stay focused. I’ve been thinking about dropping out because I don’t want to disappoint Ma or mom. I mean I am the first one to go to college and I just don't want to let them down. I’ve been living with Grandma Laura which has been great. She lets me have the basement, it’s kinda like my own little apartment. There’s a living room area, a bedroom and a bathroom. She always makes me breakfast in the morning and dinners at night, it’s the best. I come home one afternoon after my classes were over and I let out a sigh as I walk in through the front door. I didn’t notice Grandma Laura sitting in the living room. “What’s wrong dear?” She asks me. “Oh nothing, just a long day at school” I tell her not wanting to let her down as well. “Uh uh young lady you come over here and tell me what’s wrong” she says, patting the spot on the couch next to her. I put my bag down by the couch and make my way over to the other side and sit next to her and look at her taking a deep breath. “I think I want to drop out. I just, I have C’s in two of my classes and I just feel like I won’t do better in them and then it’ll bring down my GPA and I won’t be able to graduate and I’ll let Ma and Mom down and I don’t want that” I tell her while fiddling with the ring on my finger. “Oh sweetie come here” she says pulling me in for a hug. “First of all, you could never disappoint your mothers. They love you so much and are very proud of you. I know that school can be tough but maybe you should look into tutoring help or maybe assistance from a guidance counselor to see if you can switch out those classes for a lower level or if it’s not needed to go towards your degree then maybe you can switch to one’s that will go towards it” she tells me while pushing hair out of my face. “You really think Ma and Mom won’t be disappointed?” I ask. “Of course not honey, they love and support you and your siblings. But I think you should talk to them and tell them how you feel.” She says to me. “Do you think we can fly home this weekend? I have a 4 day weekend. I really miss them too” I ask her. “Of course honey, I will go book the flights now. Do you want me to tell them we’re coming or do you want to?” She asks. “I’ll call Ma and let her know” I tell her as she nods and gives me a kiss on the forehead and gets up from the couch. “Always remember you can come to me for anything” she says as she goes into the kitchen. I grab my phone and decide to call Ma.Sam’s POV
I am in the living room with Wyatt, Emma and Danny watching some cartoons when my phone goes off. I see it’s Sarah so I answer it. “Hi Sarah what a nice surprise” I say. “Hi Ma, um I wanted to let you know that Grandma Laura and I will be flying out to visit this weekend since I have a 4 day weekend” she tells me. “Oh that’s nice, Danny will be so excited to see you. Is everything alright? You sound upset.” I ask her. “Yeah I just wanna come home and I wanted to talk to you and Mom about something” she says. “You’re not pregnant are you?” I ask. “Ew no Ma come on” she says and we laugh. “Well sorry for thinking I just wanted to make sure even though we’d still love you but you’re still too young” I tell her. “Ok gross, let's stop talking about that. Grandma Laura will text you with our Flight information. We will see you on Friday” she says. “Ok sweetie have a good night” I tell her and hang up. Scarlett walks into the living room with Elizabeth and Kai in her arms. “Who was that?” She asks. “Sarah, apparently she and Ma are coming to visit this weekend and she wants to talk to us about something.” I tell her. “Oh god, is she pregnant?” She asks. “No I asked the same thing and she said Ew no and then said that Ma will text me their flight information so I guess we'll just have to wait till they arrive” I say shrugging my shoulders as she just hums.Sarah’s POV
We just landed back home and Ma said she was picking me up with Danny to avoid any paparazzi. I’m so excited to see him. He’s my little best friend. We get on the escalator to head down to where baggage claim and the exit are. We didn’t check a bag since we are only staying the weekend. I see Ma and Danny and Danny sees me and splits from Ma and comes running towards me. “Sarah!”
He shouts as he runs into my arms. “Hey buddy, how are you? I missed you” I say, hugging him tightly. “I’m good I missed you too” he said looking up at me and smiling. Ma finally gets to us, hugging Grandma and me. “Danny please next time don’t run off like that” she says to him. “Sorry Mama I just got so excited to see Sarah” he says. “And what am I chop liver” Grandma Laura says as he giggles and hugs her too. “No Grandma, I missed you too,” he says. We walk out together to the parking garage to Ma’s truck and head home. Once we get home I get more nervous about the talk I want to have with Ma and Mom. “We’re home” Ma shouts as we walk in through the front door” Mom walks over to me from the kitchen and gives me a big hug and kiss on the cheek, “welcome home sweetie” she says looking at me smiling. “Thanks Mom I’m happy to be home” I say smiling and go over to Wyatt and Emma and give them hugs as well as Elizabeth. I walk over to the playpen and pick up Kai kissing his cheek and giving him a hug as he just gurgles a little which makes me laugh and I place him in his bouncer and turn back to Ma and Mom. “Um, do you think we can talk in your office mom?” I ask them nervously. “Of course let’s go up to my office, Laura, are you ok with watching the kids while we go talk?” mom asks. “Not at all, love my grandbabies time” she says.
We walk up to the office and close the door. “So what’s going on?” Ma asks. I take a deep breath “I think I want to drop out of school, I have C’s in two classes and I don’t want to disappoint you or Mom with me being the first to go to college and all.” I tell them as I look at the ground. “Hey, hey. Look at me. You could never disappoint me or your mom. We are extremely proud of you and will support you whatever choice you decide. But we know that college is hard, it’s not going to be easy but there are ways for you to get help to improve your grades. Or you can even see if you can switch out of those courses if they don’t count towards your degree” Ma says. “That’s what Grandma Laura said.” I tell them. “Well she is very wise,” Ma tells me, chuckling a little. “So you guys aren’t disappointed in me?” I ask. “No sweetie, we are very proud of you and we want to see you achieve your goals because we know how smart you are and how determined you can get” Mom tells me as I just wrap my arms around her and Ma hugs us both. “Thank you for not giving up on me” I whisper to them. “We will never ever give up on you, we love you so much and only want what’s best for you” Ma says, giving me a kiss on the head. “You can always call us or visit home when you need to,” Mom says. “Thank you, I love you both” I say to them. “We love you too, now let’s go downstairs and enjoy your stay with the family” Ma says, opening the door and heading downstairs.
