Chapter #115
Sam’s POV
I’ve been home for a month and Sarah still isn’t talking to me which I completely understand so I am giving her the space she needs. Right now I’m in the studio working on some songs when I hear a voice that I have missed so much. “Hey bigfoot.” Sarah says walking in. “I missed hearing that.” I tell her looking up at her. “Ma thank you for giving me my space so I could deal with everything.” She says sitting next to me. “You don’t have to thank me. I hurt you and you needed space.” I tell her. “I liked your notes you’d leave for me.” She smiles holding a stack of sticky notes that I left on her door. “I knew you didn’t want to talk to me but I wanted you to know that I’m here and I’m not going anywhere.” I tell her. “I know but you need to work on your drawing skills.” She laughs pointing at the little stick figures on the notes. “I’m a music artist and I paint with words.” I tell her. “I missed you Mama.” She says, wrapping her arms around me. “I missed you too.” I say pulling her in. “What are you working on?” She asks. “They encouraged me to keep writing songs when I was in the hospital. Take a look. The first on is called ‘Face to Face’ and the second is called ‘Stronger Than My Storm’.” I say handing her my notepad. “These are great. What’s this one?” She asks. “That’s the one I am still trying to figure out what to call it.” I say. “Why not ‘Head Above Water’ you say it a lot in the lyrics.” She says. “That’s perfect thank you Minion.” I say. “You haven’t called me that in a while.” She says. “I can stop if you want.” I say. “No, I call you Bigfoot and you call me minion, that's our thing.” She says with a smile. “How did I star calling you Minion?” I ask. “Oh when I would help get pictures of Mom on set.” She says. “Ah that’s right. You know I remember when you called me Bigfoot for the first time. We were in the kitchen and I accidentally stepped on your foot and you yelled.” “Watch it Bigfoot.” She finishes. “I think you should make an album about healing.” She says. “That’s a great idea. We can call it ‘Healing’.” I say. “We?” She asks. “Sorry I got carried away and thought you wanted to help with it. Sorry.” I say. “I do in fact I wrote a song for us to sing as a duet when you were in the hospital.” She says surprising me. “Really?” I ask. “It’s called ‘Reasons’ let me get my notebook.” She says running out of the studio. “Why did Sarah just run out of here like a bat out of hell? Did you get into an argument?” Scarlett asks. “No, she went to get her notebook. She said she wrote a duet for me and her to do together while I was in the hospital.” I say not able to hide my smile. “Oh you mean ‘Reasons’ it’s beautiful.” Scarlett says. “You knew?” I ask. “Yeah she wanted my input as a music artist. But I didn’t tell you because that is something for you two.” Scarlett says. “She called me Bigfoot. God I missed that.” I tell Scarlett. “I know you did. “Here I got it!” Sarah says excitedly. “Mom helped me a little.” She says. “Yeah," she told me. She thought we got into an argument with the way you ran out.” I say. “Oh no we didn’t. Did you tell her about the song you wrote, Mom?” Sarah asks Scarlett. “No not yet. I also wrote a duet for us.” Scarlett says to me. “What’s it called?” I ask. “It’s called ‘You Will Find Me’ I wrote it when I got home.” She says. “Oh this is great we already have five songs for the album.” Sarah says excitedly. “Album?” Scarlett asks. “Yeah me and Bigfoot over there were talking about the songs she wrote while in the hospital and we are making an album called ‘Healing’ here look at the ones BIgfoot wrote.” Sarah says handing Scarlett my notepad. “I love this idea.” Scarlett says. “Oh I’m still going to charge you for my producing work except for the songs I’m in.” Sarah says and I can’t help my giant smile on my face. “Do I still get my discount?” I ask. “Of course you’ll only have to pay me $50 per song.” She smiles. “I thought it was $20 for me.” I say. “It was but that was before Amy Lee, Kelly Clarkson, Hailee Steinfeld, and P!nk became my clients.” She says. “Wait P!nk how did I not know this?” I ask, going all fangirl. “Because you are a worse fangirl than Mom with Amy Lee. And I don’t need you creeping out my clients.” She says and she’s not wrong. “True, very true.” I laugh. “I do want to do ‘Head Above Water’ first.” She says. “You're the producer.” I say. “Bently go lay down.” I say and he goes to his little dog bed in the soundbooth. “Ok. Bigfoot you ready?” Sarah smirks at the nickname. “Yes Minion, I'm ready.” I say through the headset as I sit at the piano.
