Sam’s POV
I wake up to Danny and Sarah screaming ‘Happy Birthday’. “Good morning you guys.” Scarlett says, rubbing her eyes. “Here this is from me, Danny, Emma, Wyatt, Elizabeth, and Kai.” Sarah says handing me and Scarlett a box. We open the box revealing a matching shirt set for Scarlett and I. “Oh guys it’s amazing thank you.” I say. “We should wear them today.” Scarlett says. “Yeah I agree.” I say going into the bathroom to change. I walk out with the shirt on. “What do you think does it look good on me?” I ask. “It looks perfect Mama.” Danny says. “Oh penguin when are we picking your Mom and brothers up from the airport?” I ask. “Oh around noon.” She says. “Mommy. Is it Uncle Hunter’s birthday too?” Danny asks. “Yes it is. Your Uncle Hunter and I are twins just like Emma and Wyatt.” Scarlett says. “That’s cool.” Danny says. “Ok Danny and I made you waffles for breakfast if you will join us in the dining room.” Sarah tells us. I’m so glad she was able to fly out for the weekend along with Ma. Scarlett changes into her shirt after Danny and Sarah leave the room and we go down stairs together. “Happy birthday dears!” Ma cheers. “Thank you Ma for doing all the hard work all I did was show up.” I chuckle. “I see you got the kids present.” Ma says. “Yeah this is now officially my favorite shirt. You know what I’m going to post a picture of them.” I say.

Then there is a knock on the door. “I’ll get it.” I say since Scarlett is currently giving Kai a bottle. I go to the door and am surprised at who is there. “DAD!!” I yell when I see Paul standing in the doorway. “Happy birthday Sammy.” He says, giving me a hug. “Oh my god Dad you get to meet the rest of my family. Please come in.” I say ushering him in. “Scarlett, look who’s here!” I cheer. “Oh my goodness it’s so good to see you again Paul.” Scarlett says as they hug. “It’s good to see you too sweetheart and I love the shirts.” He says. “Thank you they were a birthday gift from the kids speaking of which. In Scarlett’s arms in Kai, our youngest. Then in the highchair is Elizabeth and those are the twins Emma and Wyatt and then this is Danny and Sarah. And this is my Ma Laura.” I tell him. “It’s nice to finally meet you guys.” He smiles. “Ma I thought your Dad died.” Sarah says confused. “He did.” Ma says sharply. “Marcus died. He was my biological father. This is Paul Rich. He was my CO when I was in the Marines but he became more like a father to me. And I call him Dad and he calls me his daughter.” I explain and Ma leaves the room. “I’ll talk to her so you get to know your grandkids.” I say and follow Ma. I get to Ma’s room and lean on the doorway. “You hate your father so much that you would replace him?” Ma asks. “We aren’t having this conversation today.” I tell her. “You’re right this isn’t the time for this conversation. I’m sorry I will try to be civil towards Paul.” Ma says. “Thank you now, will you come back downstairs?” I say. “Yes I will.” Ma says and we head back down stairs and we all eat breakfast together Ma telling stories of Scarlett and I from when we were younger. After a few hours it’s time to go get Scarlett’s Mom and brothers. “We use the truck because it doesn’t have four car seats in it. “Hey Hunt, happy birthday.” I tell him as I give him a hug. “Same to you.” He says. “Happy birthday sis.” He says going to hug Scarlett and she tells him happy birthday too. We all load up in my truck before we head back to the house. “WHERE ARE MY GRANDBABIES!!?” Melanie shouts opening the door. “She does know it’s our birthday right?” Hunter jokes. “Oh hush Hunter I did all the work your sister and you just showed up.” Melanie quips. “And ruined my..” I cut her off. “WHOA Mama Sloan there are kids here.” I say. “Yeah sorry.” She apologizes as Hunter is throwing up in a thrash can. “Oh your father should be here soon.” Melanie says. “Dad’s coming!” Scarlett cheers just as she does the doorbell rings. “DAD!” Scarlett screams jumping into her fathers arms. “Hey Papa Johansson.” I say as Scarlett lets him go and I hug him. “Happy birthday to you three.” He says his Danish accent is thick. “Thanks Dad.” Hunter and Scarlett say at the same time. “Ok stop it with the creepy twin thing penguin.” I say hiding behind Kerstan. “Penguin?” He asks. “Mommy is Mama’s penguin because penguins mate for life.” Danny says. “Oh that’s cute.” He says picking up Danny. “You know I have the perfect song.” Sarah grins and ‘She Calls me Daddy’ starts to play. “NO!” Scarlett and I yell at the same time and I put my foot through the speaker not wanting Melanie, Karsten, Adrian, or Hunter killing me in my sleep tonight. “I did write Scarlett an album and I left this song till today to sing to her so if we all could go to the studio.” I say and we all make our way to the studio. “Wait Scarlett you stay out here with me I already have it recorded and I would like to dance with you if that’s ok.” I tell her. “Hit it Sarah you know the one.” I say and she smiles and hits play. I sing along with the recording as Scarlett and I dance around tthe studio.

“I love you Sam. My rockstar.” Scarlett says. “I love you, Scarlett. My penguin." I tell her. We all head back up stairs just as Benny walks in. “Sorry I’m late, happy birthday you too Scarlett.” Benny says. “Hey I’m here too.” Hunter says. “You as well Hunter.” Benny  says. “Hey what happened to your ceiling?” Kerstan asks, I decide to sing him the answer. “I’M GONNA SWING FROM THE CHANDELIER!!” I sing. “But no in all seriousness I was swinging from the chandelier and it came crashing down.” I tell him. “Why am I not surprised?” Melanie says. “In my defense Scarlett was chasing me.” I say. “Oh was this after you posted that meme?” Sarah asks. “Yeah it was.” Scarlett says. “Hey what happened to my speaker?” Benny asks. “Sarah tried to get my wife killed by playing a certain song.” Scarlett tells him. “Eh, I needed an excuse to buy a new one anyway.” He says well that’s a relief.
