Chapter 89 Sam’s POV My alarm goes off at 5 am making Scarlett groan. “What time is it?” She asks sleepily. “5 am babe” I tell her. “5 am!? Why!? We’re on vacation” she says. “Because it’s the perfect time to get ready and go fishing” I tell her slowly getting out of bed. “No come back, cuddles” she pouts, making me laugh. “Only for 5 minutes babe, I really want to take the kids out.” I say to her, getting back in bed letting her cling to me as I rub her back softly. “Ugh you and your cute adventurous side, how could i stay mad at you” she asks. “You can’t because you love me,” I say in a sing-song voice, making her giggle. “Fine fine get up and get ready and please start a large pot of coffee” she says letting me go. “I will don’t worry” I get up and quickly go to the bathroom and then throw on some shorts and a shirt and head downstairs to start making a quick breakfast and coffee. Ma comes down a few minutes later, “you’re up early” she says, making me laugh a little. “Yes, today I’m teaching the kids to fish” I say while scrambling the eggs. “You think they’re actually going to get up and go?” She asks. “Yes, they might hate me but I know they’re eventually going to love it” I tell her as I plate the food. I head upstairs and go into Sarah’s room first. “Sarah, time to wake up” I say softly while rubbing her arm. She slowly stirs in bed “what time is it?” She asks. “It’s 5:20 am” I say. “Why are you waking me so early?” She asks not wanting to open her eyes. “Because we are going fishing today and it’s better to get out early” I tell her as I sit on the bed next to her. “You are crazy but I’m up” she says rubbing her eyes while sitting up. “I know but you’re going to have so much fun, get dressed and come downstairs I got breakfast ready. I’m going to wake up the others” I tell her. “Good luck” she says making me laugh as I get up and start waking up the others. I did get some resistance which is to be expected, I know it’s early but I want us to get a good head start on the day. It’s going to be so much fun!
Benji’s POV My crazy sister just came into my room and woke me up saying we’re going fishing. I rolled over in bed seeing it’s 5:35. Ugh, the things we do for our family. I get up and go to the bathroom to do a quick morning routine since my awesome sister in law came out with the Outset. I get dibs on their products which have been great on my skin. I like skincare, sue me. And if you’re not using the Outset you’re missing out. Once I finished my routine I changed into shorts and a t-shirt and head downstairs to join the others for breakfast. I greet Ma with a kiss on the cheek and ruffle Danny’s hair. I notice Sam and I are somewhat matching which makes me laugh a little. Scarlett comes downstairs with Elizabeth and Kai and places them in their high chairs. “So I have the boat rental starting at 6:30, which gives us half an hour to get out the door and head over to the Marina,” Sam says to everyone, making us all nod while we eat. “Make sure you all put on sunscreen,” Ma says to us, making us nod once again. It is going to be a hot day. I definitely don’t feel like getting sunburnt. Once I finish eating I tell Sam that I will load up the suburban with the fishing rods since Ma and Mama Sloan are staying back to watch Elizabeth and Kai. I head outside and grab the fishing rods from my car and put them in the trunk of the suburban along with the tackle box. I then head back inside and grab my backpack with extra clothes and a towel and I grab my hat and put on my sunglasses and head back downstairs. “Alright I’m ready” I say.
Scarlett’s POV I packed our big tote bag with extra clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, arm floaties and grabbed towels. I carry it downstairs and hand it off to Sam to load into the car. “Ok kids please put on your sandals and head out to the car” I say getting their attention. They do as I say while I place a kiss on top of Elizabeth’s and Kai’s heads. “Thank you again for watching them” I say to mom and Laura. “No worries sweetie, have fun and be safe” mom says. I head outside and Sam opens the door for me, such a gentlewoman, I give her a kiss on the cheek and get into my seat and put on my sunglasses and buckle my seatbelt up. “Is everyone buckled up?” I ask. “Yes” I get back in unison. Sam starts up the car and we head out to the Marina.
Sam’s POV Once we arrive at the Marina, I pull into a parking spot closest to the entrance of the dock. Luckily Scarlett chose a fairly private town so we don’t have to worry about paparazzi or anything like that. We want to just be able to relax and enjoy ourselves. “I'm going to get the keys to the boat and then I’ll come back and help unload the car” I say to Scarlett, making her nod. I get out and walk into the office and am greeted by an older gentleman. “Hi, I’m Steve, you must be Sam,” he says, holding out his hand. “Yep that’s me,” I say, grabbing and shaking his hand. “Nice to meet you and welcome to Grand Marina on Lake Big Bear. Thank you for choosing us for your boat rental. Let me get you the paperwork to sign off on and I’ll hand you the keys.” He says turning to grab a clipboard and handing it to me to sign off on. “This is just for insurance and liability” he tells me as I read the paper and sign at the bottom and hand it back to him. “Great, here are the keys and you have the grand sailor at the end of the dock on the right hand side. If you need anything please let me know and also there is a radio onboard which connects back to me on channel 4.” He tells me. “Thank you Steve, I appreciate it” I say to him and head out of the office and back over to the car. “Alright let’s unload and head to our boat” I say into the car as I open the trunk to get everything out. “Remember always have one of us holding your hands please until we get on the boat and then I will go over everything on the boat ok?” I say making them nod and say yes. Benji grabs the fishing rods and tackle box once he puts his backpack on. I grab the tote bag and grab Emma’s hand while Wyatt takes Scarlett’s hand and Danny has Sarah’s hand and we head out onto the dock towards our boat. “It’s the one at the end on the right” I say. “Wow this is so cool” the kids say.
