Hyunjin just finished moving the last box to the stack by the door when he turned around to see Wooyoung sitting on the bed, looking at something in his lap.
He knocked on the door, unsure if Wooyoung would even want him to check on him. The older looked up and quickly wiped the tears off his cheeks. "Hey... sorry" He chuckled, an obvious attempt to mask the weakness he felt.
"Woo, I fucking owe you my life, man. Talk to me." Hyunjin ordered as he walked into the room and sat on the bed.
Wooyoung placed the bottle of perfume that he was holding on the nightstand and let out a pained sob. "I hurt him, Jinnie. I really fucked everything up."
Hyunjin sighed and pulled Wooyoung into a hug. "What happened?" He knew he shouldn't be asking. He knew that his feelings for Felix, made everything more complicated. Despite that, though, the guy who had been there through everything, currently needed him. He owed Wooyoung that much.
The older sighed and melted into the hug. "About a month ago, there was a holiday party at work. All of the artists from the label were invited. This one artist in particular.... San...." Wooyoung paused. The name immediately rang a bell in Hyunjin's mind and his eyes widened. Wooyoung sat back up and leaned against the headboard of the bed. "Yeah.. the same one you called when I was shitfaced." He clarified as if he could read Hyunjin's mind.
"Anyway.. San was there. He first started working with the label about a year ago for his debut album. I was assigned to manage him. He was really sweet, and silly. We got to know eachother pretty well, and I confided in him. Things with Felix were... I don't know, distant? We used to make time for eachother every day, no matter how hectic school got. But, when he got the funding to carry out the community center.. it was like that was his new love. I felt like he didn't care about my work anymore, and our schedules were so different that we didn't see eachother much at all." A stray tear escaped Wooyoung's eye and he sniffed.
"Our sex life went down the toilet, and the time alone was hard at first. At some point, though, I got used to it. I got numb to everything. I felt like I could only torture myself for so long trying to keep a feeling alive that felt so far away."
Hyunjin looked at his friend sympathetically. He could understand the hurt and loss, despite any mistakes that were made because of it.
"About a week before the party, I confided in San about everything. The night before, I wanted to plan a date for Lix and I. I wanted to try to get to a better place. It was supposed to be a surprise, but Felix called to say that something broke while they were closing so he wouldn't be home in time. It felt like a slap in the face. In all reality, he didn't know what I was planning, so I shouldn't have gotten mad. I scrapped the whole idea and it was like the last straw I think. I told San about everything the next day. I was an asshole to him and instead of getting mad, he just sat and listened." Wooyoung continued. He ran his hand through his hair with a deep breath.
"At the holiday party, I drank... a lot. San was there, and he was wearing this suit that just fit him in all the right places. It shouldn't have happened, but I fucking couldn't forget it. I was absolutely hammered, but I remembered everything. I tried to do the right thing, I tried to forget him, tried to cut him off and never see him again... but I couldn't." The older admitted. He picked up the perfume that he placed on the nightstand minutes earlier. "Felix used to wear this for me because I used to like it. I knew he didn't care for it, but he wore it for me." He chuckled painfully. "A year ago, I stopped liking it. The reason? Because San fucking wears citrus, and no matter how much I used to like this perfume, it never quiet measured up after smelling San's." Wooyoung's expression was numb as he looked at Hyunjin, who was trying to process everything he was being told.
