Hyunjin woke up once again, the sound of his alarm blaring from the windowsill and an immediate itchy sensation on his face.
He lifted his head up and scratched his cheek, looking down right after to find that his fingers were stained bright blue from half dried paint.
"Goddamnit.." He groaned as he pulled his hand down his face, sighing deeply when he remembered exactly why his alarm was blaring in the first place.
Despite the paint it left on his screen, Hyunjin stopped them alarm and got up, first and foremost walking to the bathroom to wash off the paint from his hands and his face.
His brows furrowed when there was a knock on the door. He walked over to it as he wiped his hands clean on the kitchen towel.
"Woo?" He asked the older when he opened it to reveal his former best friend, the sleep still clouding his brain.
"You forgot we were meeting today?" Wooyoung asked with sarcastic disbelief in his voice, lifting up the sleeve of his jacket to check his watch.
Hyunjin gave him an unamused look in response. "No, I didn't. Just thought we were meeting in an hour.. and at your place." He explained, the patience he hoped to have already dwindling with each passing second.
"I texted you like an hour ago letting you know I had to leave early so I figured I'd come here." Wooyoung shrugged, peeking over Hyunjin's shoulder and spotting the art area still messy. "Fell asleep at your canvas again?" He chuckled lightheartedly, although there was bitterness in his tone.
Hyunjin scrunched his brows questioningly but looked behind him, humming in understanding and nodding his head.
"Mind if I come in..? It's literally freezing out here.." the older asked with a raised brow. It felt awkward.. too awkward.
"Hm." Hyunjin hummed shortly and stepped aside, letting Wooyoung in and shutting the door behind them.
"Got anything to drink?" Wooyoung asked sarcastically with a chuckle in attempt to lighten the mood, which failed miserably.
"Really?" Hyunjin scoffed with an eye roll. "You just got out of rehab, Woo." the sliver of patience clearly did not last anywhere near long enough to get them off to a good start.
The older sighed and dropped his shoulders. "Look, not all of us can make art to cope with shit, alright?" He sassed back. "You know I've always dealt with it by making light."
Hyunjin's expression softened slightly. "Well, it stopped being cute the second you almost died trying to pretend it was all fun and games." He scolded with more anger in his tone.
"Why were you with Felix that night?" Wooyoung asked back pointedly.
"Is that what you came here for?" Hyunjin responded challengingly, leaning back against the kitchen island, a glass of water in hand.
Wooyoung sighed and looked at the floor, shaking his head in disagreement. "Excuse me for wondering why you were with my ex that late at night." He he gritted. "But, no. I came here to apologize for my part in our shit." he admitted disgruntledly. "Look, I shouldn't have insulted you or told you to get out. We both did some fucked up shit, but I shouldn't have let it get to the point where I was basically banishing you."
Hyunjin listened attentively with a blank expression.
"We have both seen eachother through our worst and I guess I was upset because it seemed to have worked out for you." The older admitted even more disgruntledly than the last confession.
Hyunjin clicked his teeth and let out a soft scoff. "I'm sorry?" He stated questioningly, not really sure how to respond to that.
"Why do you say it like a question?" Wooyoung asked with annoyance in his voice.
