"How was therapy?" His mom asked as soon as Hyunjin sat himself down in the passenger seat.

"Fine." The artist stated vaguely.

"... did you get to talk to him about what happened yesterday?" His mom followed up with an impatient undertone. He could tell she was trying not to push, but despite the vallient effort, didn't succeed in the mission.

"There's nothing to talk about." Hyunjin shrugged disinterested. Was it completely honest? Maybe not. Honestly, it probably wouldn't hurt to talk to a therapist about the fact that his parents decided to be civil and make up as soon as he was no longer around to use as a pawn.

"Hyunjin.." his mom pushed in a disappointed voice.

"Mom..." He pleaded. "Honestly. What the hell does my opinion matter anyway?" Hyunjin sighed as he dropped his head against the back of the seat. He had managed to avoid saying anything this morning before his appointment. It also helped that his dad was the one to take him. He really missed his bike along with all the other things back home. It was too easy to be ambushed by his mother when he couldn't escape.

"Hyunjin, please don't use that language." She scolded with a frustrated sigh. "It matters because you are my son. Our son." She argued back.

"That doesn't mean anything." He shrugged. "I haven't seen either of you in five years. I have built my life, and so have you. You and him getting back together has nothing to do with me, so I really don't see the big deal in getting my happiness from it." He emphasized.

"Even if you aren't happy I want you to feel something so we can work through it." She pleaded.

Hyunjin chuckled lightly. "I already told you I'm fine with it. I don't care, mom. You have my blessing to be with whoever you please if that'swhat you're looking for. It doesn't change anything if that person is dad. You're a grown woman, I trust you to do whatever you think is right." He stated honestly. His issue really wasn't that his parents were together.. it really was just how.

His mom looked at him with soft eyes and reached her hand over to pet his hair. "When did you get so mature.." she cooed proudly as if she was just seeing how grown up he was.

"That's kind of what happens when you get kicked out of the house." Hyunjin grumbled on instinct. He really wasn't trying to start drama all the time, but it was true. His mom meant the best, sure, but it was a product of being thrown in the deep end and trying to keep your head above water as you have to learn how to swim.

His mom sighed and dropped her hand. "I didn't kick you out. You could have come back at any point." She clarified.

Hyunjin scoffed in sarcasm. "If I studied business like dad." He countered.

"I really was just trying to protect you, Hyunjin. You may not believe that, bu-" his mom argued with a calm voice. Hyunjin could tell she was really trying but he couldn't help rolling his eyes.

"But nothing. I don't care what you thought you were doing." He shrugged. "The reality is that no matter what or why, I had to figure out how to make it on my own." Hyunjin argued in finality.

"Can we please just look forward?" His mom pleaded. "I love you, Hyunjin. I want to know the man you turned into, no matter how that may have happened." She begged with hopeful eyes as she turned off the car, having reached the house.

"You can't expect me to ignore the last five years, mom." Hyunjin responded in a softer tone than before.

His mom sighed and nodded. "I know.. I'm not asking you to ignore it.. I'm just asking you to give us a chance.."
