Hyunjin sat on his stool by the window, just looking at the blank canvas. It had been a long week. Since Felix got sick, he offered to take his place at the center.
As always, he had been happy to help. He would be lying, though, if he tried to claim that attending two of Minho's 'wonder squad' rehearsals in a single week after not having danced in a long time, didn't make muscles he hadn't used in months ache noticeably. It also didn't help that the brown eyes that watched him through the mirror last practice, weren't there to give him a much needed energy boost.
Which brings us to this cold and rainy Friday night as Hyunjin sat on the stool with damp hair that he couldn't be bothered to blow dry. He looked over at the kitchen island, on which sat the single candle that he owned. Typically, he wouldn't care much for them. Not that he minded them by any means, he just didn't ever think of burning one. He had to admit, though, that the warm lighting the candle emitted and the way in which it flickered slightly in the draft of the heater, felt almost romantic on a day like this. He could understand why people enjoyed them. He could understand why Felix.. enjoyed them.
"Goddammit.." Hyunjin mumbled to himself with a deep sigh. Ever since they said goodbye on Wednesday, the freckled Angel had been on his mind at the most seemingly unrelated moments. He had become so accustomed to seeing that bright smile and those big brown eyes every day that a day without them didn't feel right. It also didn't help that Jisung's words kept replaying in his mind. He couldn't love Felix.. it was too fast. All of this was scary already... to throw love into it knowing that Felix couldn't reciprocate, at least not fully at this point, was something he didn't think he was ready for.
He was still watching the candle glow lightly, how the fresh minty scent mixed with the constantly lingering rose one. It was surprisingly calming to him.
Hyunjin's creative mind was blank. He didn't know what to paint. He had been so busy at the center that he hadn't been able to go out and explore anywhere for natural inspiration. Then there was Felix.. of course, his mind drifted right back to the stubborn smile.
As if the younger could sense Hyunjin was thinking about him, his name flashed on the artist's phone screen. With furrowed brows, he unlocked it to check the message.
