"Marina?" Jeongin answered the phone when Jisung was out of sight.
"Hey Jeongin. Sorry for the late call.. but I think you will forgive me when I tell you the reason.." she responded with a sense of amusement in her tone of voice.
"I will?" The gallery owner couldn't help but muse back with intrigue.
"So...? Don't keep me waiting now!" He continued impatiently when there was just silence on the other end of the line.
Marina let out a slight chuckle and sighed. "Sorry, I was finalizing the details. One of my clients is interested in a piece from your gallery." She announced with a happy tone.
Jeongin beamed a smile. "Yes!" He cheered into the phone. "Who? And which one?" He asked eagerly.
"Song Mingi. He has attended a couple of your events. Apparently, his husband loved one of Hwang's paintings. He just called me to see if it was up for sale to surprise him."
The owners eyes darted to the artist himself, who was on the other side of the lot, turning excited kids into the characters of their choosing. "Which painting?"
"Take a wild guess." She challenged.
"The beach?" Jeongin sighed with pursed lips.
"Bingo!" Marina cheered. "Why do you sound disappointed..?" She followed up.
"I'm not.. it's great." The owner refuted genuinely, although a sense of guilt spread through him. "It's just that I know that painting means a lot to its former owner." He sighed in conflict.
"Owner? But it's Hwang's pai-"
"He gifted it to someone who had to sell it to me out of desperation." Jeongin explained further. "Can I think on it?" He requested as his eyes trailed over to the freckled sunshine who was smiling brightly as he talked with a group of people.
"Oh.. uh, sure. Of course. Just let me know what to tell him." She agreed doubtfully, almost a hint of suspicion in the tone of voice.
Jeongin hummed and hung up the call, deciding to make his way over to the freckled blond with an additional proposal springing to mind.
"Hey Innie?" An unexpected voice took his attention away momentarily. He turned to his side to find Chan, who reached out and grabbed his hand with an apologetic expression on his face.
"Channie?" He asked sweetly with the same confusion. What the older may have to apologize for was lost on him.. but for some reason it didn't feel like he should be threatened by it.
"I wanted to say sorry for how I may have come across earlier." Chan offered with genuine concern. "I didn't mean to get all in yo-" he continued before he felt Jeongin press his finger on his lips once again. This time, though, it seemed more affectionate, which was only strengthened by the smile that grew on the younger's face.
"Shh." He cooed. "You didn't upset me. But you're cute when you feel bad, so you're forgiven." He smirked flirtatiously.
The chef scoffed with amusement and held Jeongin's wrist, keeping his hand in place while he kissed the finger to his lips, not once breaking eye contact.
A thick tension filled the air around them as the younger raised his brow with an amused smirk. "About what Jisung said.." he gulped the tension down, but couldn't finish before Chan cut him off once again.
"Do you want to go out with me sometime?" He asked smoothly full of confidence.
The smirk widened on Jeongin's face as he pulled his hand back. "What are you doing after this?" He wasted no time in asking.
