Hyunjin was the first to wake up in the now dark room, immediately smiling softly at the warmth and comfortable vanilla scent. His arm was still draped around Felix's waist and his hand moved slowly up and down with the rhythmic breaths of the younger.
He snuggled a little closer and let the tip of his nose tickle the top of Felix's spine.
The younger really was different. He felt so domestic. He had never been an asshole, or been anything but respectful, he just wasn't a touchy person. He was more like a hermit. When you're alone, you don't have to worry about anybody but yourself and he never felt lonely.
To be completely honest, Hyunjin had to take social interaction in bursts. The only person he could spend more than an hour or two with at a time, was Wooyoung, and that was really only because the older understood. They would hang out, but were ok with just being in the same space. They didn't have to talk, or engage with eachother, they could just exist.
And then there was Felix... the person he had known about for years, but would never would have guessed the impact he would have. He was happy, though. Four years ago, he was still a mess. He believed that art school was his big ticket. His answer to a life of freedom that he wanted back then. He actively avoided anything that could have a commitment.
It's one of the reasons why he started sleeping with Changbin. The only person he knew that was less interested in anything serious than him, was the dealer who refused to stick around afterwards.
Everything was about his art. It was the only commitment he was willing to make.
But right here, in this bed, with the person he is holding, all he wants to do is commit to never leaving.
"Najia?" Felix's groggy voice vibrated against his chest.
"Hm?" Hyunjin asked startled, not realizing that Felix had woken up.
"You're squeezing me..." the younger strained slightly.
"Shit... sorry!" The artist threw out in realization. "I didn't notice..." He apologized sheepishly.
Felix scrunched his brows and turned around to study Hyunjin's features, looking for any sign of distress. He found plenty. "What happened?" He asked as he pushed the older's hair out of his face.
"Nothing.." Hyunjin stated with a small reassuring smile, looking into Felix's sparkling eyes. "Just got lost in thought." He shook his head in dismissal. "Did I wake you up?" He asked apologetically.
"It's ok." Felix copied the same dismissive head shake. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked as he propped his head up by his elbow, smiling softly.
Hyunjin laid down on his back and gently pulled the younger to lay on his chest. "It's really nothing.." He ran his hand through Felix's hair. "Just wild how different my life is from how I imagined." He chuckled with irony.
"That doesn't sound like a good thing..." Felix mused carefully. He didn't know what Hyunjin meant by it and he didn't want to overstep and ruin the comfortable moment, but the way the artist's grip tightened earlier seemed like something was up.
"I mean, what I imagined was that art was going to fix everything and that I would be traveling the world selling art." The older followed up. "It wasn't exactly a realistic view." He chuckled sarcastically.
Felix pouted softly and started to trail his fingers over Hyunjin's stomach, snuggling a little closer into his side. "You can do whatever you want to do.. why wouldn't that be realistic..?" He stated innocently. He had always been a dreamer outside of his spiral moments.
He could feel Hyunjin sigh under him. "It's not that simple."
Felix picked his head up. "Why not?"
Hyunjin smiled at the dreamy expression and hopeful view on life. It made him wish he wasn't so cynical sometimes. Sure, he never ended up being surprised by the rough parts of life, but in moments like this, it made it to where he was keeping himself stuck.
