So yesterday I was thinking about Gollum from The Lord of the Rings and the Borg from Star Trek. Seven of Nine from Star Trek Voyager specifically. I was able to compare some things about them with Christianity an thought I'd share it with you all.
1. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was once a Hobbit named Smeagol. Because of the Ring he became a totally different creature though; very evil and deceitful. But the good side of him was still there along with the evil side. One day he tried to get rid of Gollum and just be Smeagol again. That made me think: Christians are kind of like Gollum/Smeagol. Once we get saved, we are a child of God. We strive to be a better person for God, but we still have our sinful nature and desires. It's the ultimate battle between the flesh and the soul.
2. Star Trek Voyager: Next up, we have Seven of Nine from Star Trek Voyager. She was a Borg drone until she was severed from the Collective. It reminds me of Christianity as well. When you are unsaved, you're kind of like the Collective. You have that sinful nature and we all do the same stuff. But, once you get saved, you are severed from the Collective and are your own individual self.
3. Star Wars: I was doing some research on lightsabers. I wanted to know what the different colors were for and found out something interesting. A purple lightsaber is used by a Jedi Guardian that was once a Sith. Therefore it's a mix of blue and red. That got me thinking that we Christians are like the purple lightsaber. Before Christianity I guess we're kind of like Sith, but afterwards, we're like Jedi. We become a new creature in Christ, but the old creature is still beneath the new. Therefore, Christians are like purple lightsabers.
Do you have anything to add to this? If so, comment of PM me and I'll add it! I hope you all liked it. God bless! ^-^
