Chapter 8 - "School Debacle..."
Clara's PoV
'Mummy. Daddy. Wake up, it's time for school' Poppy said running into our room, and started bounding around the next morning.
I've never seen a child so excited for school. Admittedly the two little ones were going to proper nursery this year and Evie and Avia both had Blazers now. So they would all be wearing their uniform this morning and I couldn't wait to take a photo of the 4 of them together.
'It's 5.30am?' I complained.
'But Daddy is already up making eggs. Come on Mummy' she whined, jumping into the bed and then on top of me.
'Okay. Okay. Let me get in the shower' I said rolling my eyes but in reality I was taking the typical extra half an hour that I deserved.
My body clock was still in Summer mode and wanted to stay in bed until 12pm and spend the afternoon in the garden.
But alas it was September and now my post traveling tan was starting to fade and things were going back to normal - teaching and routines.
We had spent the last 6 and a half weeks in America traveling from state to state, because Evie and I had 3 months to travel on our passports for the year but we knew we needed to save at least a month for our honeymoon.
We had been to several states over the 6 weeks including a trip back to Chicago to see some of John's family, Seattle, Washington and San Diego where we had a villa for three weeks. It was so relaxing and everybody was in their element.
Then we came back home for the last two weeks of the summer which is where everyone started clashing. It probably did have something to do with Evie being so spoilt. She batters her eyelids at John and gets away with murder.
'Come on. Get up Clara. You have one very excited daughter and two very un willing to wake up or move from their pit daughters. Lots to do' he said rolling his eyes, knowing that he was heading into the office today, so he wanted to get on the road for London as soon as possible.
The school is half an hour away from here where we live now which means we have to drive half an hour into London everyday to take them to school but soon Avia and Evie will be in senior school so it will be a little easier.
We're to start looking for senior schools for Avia soon and it's quite nerve racking when I remember she was just a little girl yesterday.
'Alright. Alright' I groaned. 'Did you make me eggs?' I asked looking up at him with one eye open and he smirked leaning against the door.
'Maybe I did - Maybe I didn't' he chuckled.
'I'm up' I groaned, throwing the bedsheets away and was startled when I found a small body laid out next to me in the bed. 'What the hell?' I snapped looking at the small boy who was still out like a light.
He had his fathers genes and could sleep for Britain this one - I just wish that he would sleep in his own bed.
'I know. I know. I really need to sort that bed out for him but I can't see it making any difference. He's still going to climb out of the bed'
Henry had been climbing out of his cot for weeks. And it was quite late to be putting him into a bed considering he's three in two months but we had been procrastinating building the bed for months.
If he doesn't climb in the bed at night with us then he climbs in with one of the girls. He doesn't seem to like sleeping alone.
'You need to sort it out this weekend. After the horse thing you need to build the bed. I can't face much longer of this' I whined. 'He sleeps in our bed so much I can't even remember the last time we had sex' I said rolling my eyes as John followed me into the bathroom.
'I know. I know. But what can I do?'
'Lock him out? Put him back in his bed. He'll soon get the idea?' I pointed out making suggestions on how to deal with this but he wasn't listening.
'Mummy? Can you do braids in my hair please?' Evie asked as she rounded the bathroom door of our bedroom with her entire uniform on - Purple Summer dress and cardigan, with white socks and shoes, waiting patiently with her blazer in one hand and a brush in the other.
'I can do them?' John said.
'I don't like yours' she said walking out of the room.
'Will she ever like me again?'
'She loves you John. You know that. Your her Dad and no matter what Richard does or says he knows that' I assured him going to get sorted.

'Now. Everybody smile' I instructed as both Evie and Avia stood in their blazers and dresses all nice and neat bags on backs and hair tucked up, whilst Poppy was stood in front in her infant uniform which was the same except the summer dress was pink for infants and no blazer, and both boys were in front Henry (and Ollie of course who goes to the same school and is in the same class as Henry) with their grey shorts on and yellow v neck jumpers for the nursery.
They were adorable and Lilly looked like she might cry.
'Their so big. I can't believe they are in nursery already. Next year they go into school' she said going all soft and teary eyed when Ollie jumped into his mums arms.
'And to think three years ago you were panicked you wouldn't even have a baby let alone get to the day your sending them off to school' I laughed, as she loaded Ollie into her car.
Once we get into a routine then we will have just me take them all in the morning because obviously I work at the school, and then Lilly will pick them up at 12.30 from the nursery and pick Poppy up at 1 because she is in the younger side of the reception so unfortunately doesn't stay all day until after Christmas.
'Now. Let's head off to big school' I grinned.
