Chapter 72 - "Christmas Fayre..."
Clara's PoV
'Did you not go to sleep?' John scoffed as I was sat on my phone the following Saturday morning.
'Nope' I hummed awake as anything.
I had been up since 4am and was vomiting for a good 40 minutes. I had snuck to the girls bathroom so that John couldn't hear my upchucking and then snuck back into bed and had been up since.
It was quite easy to hide it from him on this particular weekend because we had, had a crazy amount of sex in the last week. I mean we must have been at it every night.
'We'll go to sleep now then. How can you not have slept?' John sighed, kissing my forehead and then kissing my mouth quickly before laying flat on his back.
I sat up resting on my arm on the bed and looked up at him.
'The door is still locked' I hummed kissing him.
'No. No. I do not need any more sex' he said closing his eyes and turning away from me. 'I'm getting up in a minute. What the hell has gotten into you anyway? Your never into having this much sex'
'I-- I Dunno' I shrugged, as he went towards the bathroom and passed the calendar on the way through.
I sighed and stared sifting through the wardrobe pulling out a dress that looked like it would do for a school fare and pulled a cardigan and tights from the draw.
I was dressed and just debating on what boots to wear with the dress when John came out of the bathroom buttoning up a shirt.
'Clara? Aren't you supposed to be on your period like... yesterday?' John said with a raised eyebrows and a shred of hope.
'Shit' I said running to the Callander and saw John's face.
That face was the exact reason I didn't want to tell him yet. I really don't want to get his hopes up for nothing.
'Ugh. Probably late. That happens when you hit a certain age'
'Your 35? Not 64 Clara? Are you sure?'
'John. Just drop it okay' I growled slamming the bedroom door and took a deep breath.
My cover was nearly blown. Stupid women problems.

'Hey' I smiled waving at Adrien and allowing the kids to go off.
I'd given 10 pounds each to each child and they went off.
I think Avia had Henry and John had Poppy and Evie had torn with her friends.
'Hey Clara. How's it going?' Adrien smirked pointing at the little tombolla looking stand.
'Oo wow. A tin of beans? This place really knows how to spoil us' I smirked paying a pound and taking a ticket.
I had failed however to notice the charity that was being collected for.
I wandered around the whole fair and didn't even know until John found us again. 'Hey Poppy'
'I got a bracelet and a necklace and I ated half a hot dog' she said rather impressed with herself and in truth I was rather impressed with her.
The fact that she at food willingly.
'Well that's really good' I laughed kissing her forehead as John dropped her on the floor of the hall and she ran off to talk to one of her little friends. 'She seems strangely lively' I hummed taking John's hand and leading him towards where there was a couple of chairs and where Lilly was so we could have a chat.
'What's gotten into you? Your so clingy and all over me. And I'm not being funny but the amount of se--'
'Stop there. I can't help it that my hormones are all over the place can I? I'm a woman for gods sake' I scoffed annoyed pulling myself up from the bench. 'If you have a problem with affection then bloody piss off' I scoffed storming away as Richard looked at John.
'What's up with her?'

I was still growling to myself as I found Evie and she asked for more money. That was the only reason for her finding me but I have her another 5 pounds and she ran.
Then I was on my own, playing with some beads that the little kids were making bracelets with.
That's when Mr Foster hit the stage and started chatting away.
I wasn't really listening to what he was saying until I heard a chunk of the speech.
'You may not be aware but we are taking donations today for kids that are seriously ill and unfortunately we have one little girl in the school who is seriously ill, so we're donating all the money from the fare today and the raffle to the childhood leukaemia foundation' Mr Foster said as I shed a small tear. 'Unfortunately of course it doesn't help directly this little girl but to raise money for the charity in hope that she would have some chance' he explained.
I had to cry at that but as there was total silence I upped and left the hall, sniffing and trying to contain the tears.

'Hi Mummy' Poppy said as I sat on my desk chair in my classroom. I figured it was the best place to hide for now.
'Hey Pop. What you doing here?'
'Daddy said that he was looking for you. But I sawed you go to your classroom. So I followed' she said. 'Why are you crying?'
'Sorry Pop. It's nothing. Mummy's fine'
'But you yook sad' she said climbing on my lap as I kissed her forehead and stroked her little head.
I was shocked to feel how thin her hair was and almost cried knowing what might come.
'It's okay Hun. Mummy's okay'
'Are you and daddy fighting again? You said a mean word to daddy' she said obviously very observant.
It was embarrassing really that she was so observant. She's only 4.
'I promise I'm okay' I assured her hugging her tight. 'Mummy's and Daddy's always fight but it doesn't mean we're going to fight for a long time' I promised.
'Okay. Are you coming back? I want some sweetie strawberries' she said taking my hand and pulling me towards the hall.
