Chapter 159 - "Baby Baths..."

Clara's PoV

'Mummy Clara! Can I help?' Henry asked as he ran towards the bathroom and straight in front of me.

I was just fricken lucky that I didn't fall over the stick little thing.

I swear that sometimes he's so thin and tiny that if I tickled him he might snap.

'Umm. Sure I don't see why you can't' I shrugged holding tightly to Harry. Henry suddenly stumbled into the bathroom and started running water aimlessly.

'Can I get in?'

'Huh?'

'I want to play with the duckies with Harry' he pouted cutely.

I couldn't see why he couldn't. Harry just floats in his bath on the water anyway so Henry could get in as well.

'Hmm. Okay. Go and get your towel and some pyjamas then. I've laid them out on the bed' I instructed as he ran off.

'Whoa. Buddy. Walk don't run' John shouted as we heard him bound up the stairs step by step. 'What's his rush?'

'He wanted to help bath harry. Then he asked if he could get in as well and I couldn't think up any reasons why he couldn't so didn't have much of a choice'

'Oh. Bath time without me?'

'Well your bloody here now' I sighed as Henry bounded back in the room, pushed past John and collapsed like an energetic monkey on the floor next to Harry.

I watched as he tried to take Harry's top off but John quickly stopped him.

'Bath isn't ready yet buddy and we don't want him getting cold do we?' John hummed.

'Where are the others anyway?' I asked out of interest. I knew that Evie was at Richards for the night. She sort of comes and goes as she pleases since it is the summer holidays.

'Avia is in her room and Poppy is at a friends still'

'What? Has she not been dropped off home yet? You'd better go and get her' I scoffed as John stood still.

'Actually I've already called the Mum. The other friends are staying the night - don't worry their all girls so I said that Poppy could stay' he shrugged like it was no big deal until I punched him on the arm hard.

'You what? She's 5! She does not need to be going to sleepovers until she's at least 10' I growled.

'What? I'll have you reminded that Evie wasn't much older at her first sleepover and that Avia has been staying away since she was 4 at friends'

'That's not the point. She's not like them. She's way more delicate' I growled at him as he stepped back and then smirked. 'This isn't funny' I growled.

'Calm down. I'm going to take some bits over to her. You know underwear, pyjamas, teddies. Stuff like that'

'You don't get it John. Nobody else understands the medication and her creams and stuff. That's my job'

'I'm sensing that you don't want to let go? That if she stays away for a night she's not so much of a kid anymore?' He laughed.

'Would you like it if it was Henry?'

'Of course I wouldn't... but he's a boy and boys don't have slumber parties' he shrugged. 'Anyway I trust Poppy. I would never send the kid who is currently eating soap away for the night' he said as I turned around.

'Shit'

'Soap doesn't taste nice' he spat as his mouth was still full of foam.

'No. but it's also not for human consumption. Only your cleaning yourself ' I sighed rolling my eyes and pulling his top off.

He eagerly jumped into the bath and started rubbing the soap on the tiles instead but I supposed it was better than him eating it.

I lifted Harry up and popped him in the little floating bath and gently washed him down with the flannel.

'Can I do it?'

'Sure buddy. Just be careful because babies can be really fragile. Especially Harry because he's so small' I instructed.

'Daddy. Yook. I'm cleaning the baby. I'm yooking after the baby' he said excitedly as John smirked with a raised eyebrow.

'Hey. I want a go' Poppy scoffed as I rose an eyebrow.

'Did you just give me the third degree lecture to end up bringing her home with you?'

'She cried the minutes that I went to leave' he shrugged.

'I am so fricken tired. I've never been this tired with a new born' I complained flopping onto the bed and whining very loudly.

'You never breast fed before so of course you weren't as tired. It takes some quality to breast feed a new born' he shrugged.

'That is such a man answer' I complained as I heard him announce that the pump was ready. 'I swear I'm turning into a Fucking cow milking all the time' I moaned.

'It's worth it though?' John hummed as Henry came running into the room again.

I don't know what his problem was but he seemed to want all the attention lately.

John was just getting himself ready for bed as he picked Henry up and he clung to John's neck. (And yes we were getting ready for bed at 7am. Admittedly we won't sleep but we're both so tired we just watch Tv from bed now in the evenings)

'Evie's just got home Mummy'

'Ah. Send her in will you before she disappears into Evie land for the next 12 hours' I said as Avia wandered away.

Avia was actually the one that had the most questions. Because she's 11 she understands the whole concept of birth and sex and breasts but she's seeing it all live now before being a parent herself.

'What?'

'Evie don't be rude' I sighed.

'Okay. What do you want?' She scoffed having not even taken her jacket off.

'We're doing the annual family photo on Saturday so you can't go to jesses party' I said which didn't leave for a happy 10 year old.

Every year since Avia was born John has done this stupid photo. It's actually interesting because the first one had me, Avia and John. Them for a few years it was just Evie Avia and John. Then me again. Then Lucie was in one and then Poppy and Henry. Things had changed so much.

And it was weird.
