Chapter 137 - "Baby Shower Surprise..."
Clara's PoV
'Come on Daddy. We need to decorate' Avia insisted jumping out of the car before the car had even stopped.
'Avia. For gods sake the car hasn't even stopped moving yet. That's so bloody dangerous' John snapped.
'Sorry daddy' she mumbled not liking to be told off but then went to the boot of the car and grabbed the decorations that she had planned.
'What exactly is the theme here?' John asked Avia asked she had both blue and pink balloons to decorate.
John of course knew the gender and what coloured balloons would have been the best but Avia didn't.
'Well it's a boy or a girl so we had to just get both and hope for the best. We went with silver balloons as well because they look pretty' she hummed instructing John to bring the cake in from the back which he hadn't actually seen himself yet.
'Blimey. How much did this cake cost me?' John scoffed as he looked at how lovely the cake was.
It was covered in pink and blue polka dogs and had two little teddies on the top.
John assumed it was jam sponge on the inside, but Avia informed him there was sweets on the inside which was a sweet treat.
'Come on daddy. Look alive' Avia scoffed as he had spent too long admiring the cake rather than setting up.
'Oh you are just like your mother' John snapped at her.
Decorating and being bossy when it came go arrangements: that was so like Clara it was embarrassing.

'Lilly I really do not have time to come to this meeting with you. We have a meeting later on this afternoon at the location of Poppy's birthday party. We really don't have time for anything else in our day' I scoffed.
I hadn't spoken to John since Thursday when he was outside the school.
I had of course been home. This morning however I agreed to come over to Lilly's because she wanted a chat.
Turns out she didn't want a chat. She was just trying to terrify me and get me out of the way.
'Shut up and get in the bloody building Clara' Lilly said just about at the end of her tether with me.
I knew I had been very much moaning lately about everything but I was entitled too... I am bloody pregnant.
'Seriously Lil--- bloody hell this is a bit swanky for a meeting? What was Richard on earth was he thinking?' I mumbled.
'He was thinking that he wants to make a good impression which they both do' Lilly's said but she seemed a little distant from the whole thing.
And so did I. The last thing that I wanted to do was sit through a crappy meeting with my husband that I'm not exactly loving at the moment and my best friends.
'Well it's about bloody time you two got here. Your late' Richard scoffed making me feel suddenly guilty.
'Wait what? Lilly said two?' I said.
'No. I told her 1.15. You guys are bloody 45 minutes late' Richard snapped taking my arm and pulling me towards the conference room'
'What?'
'Get your best apologetic face on. I bet it was your fault' Richard snapped forcing me to open the door where I was pleasantly surprised.
I'd never seen Richard angry so I should have expected something to be up. But didn't even think about it.
I expected to be greeted by a room full of angry men ready for a meeting but instead the room was full of pink and blue balloons and tea pots. 'What the hell?' I grumbled hoping I didn't go into labour right here and now from the shock of the surprise.
'Surprise' voices squeaked as I stood gobsmacked.
'What's all this about?' I questioned confusedly.
'It's a baby shower' John explained coming up behind me and kissing my head.
'I can see that' I gasped stepping in and seeing the whole place decorated.
I could see that they had gone to a real effort and everything was either yellow or both pink and blue.
It seemed a bit disappointing to not be able to have everything the pink or blue but at the same time it was fun.
'Come on in' a few people chuckled including my Dad, work colleagues and some friends from the school that were parents.

'John' I mumbled tapping John's shoulder and playing with my finger nails awkwardly.
'Hmm?' He hummed stopping his chat with one of my friends that was chatting to him.
'I'm-- I'm sorry yeah'
'I know' he shrugged leaning down to kiss me.
'What the hell? You forgive me just like that?' I scoffed.
'Clara we've had some crazy arguments. This isn't worth the fight' he shrugged.
'So that's it?' I said with a shake of my head.
'Umm. Yeah: I guess so' he said going back to chatting to someone else.

'This is crazy. You didn't have to do all that for me. I know how busy you are and how much you hate planning' I laughed kissing John's mouth.
'It wasn't me. I didn't plan this' he hummed. 'It was all Avia'
'Avia?'
'Yep. She organised the guest list and balloons and cake. All Lilly did was arrange the hotel booking because nobody would take an 11 year old seriously. But it was all her. My bank card had more input in this party than I did' he chuckled.
'Oh my goodness. That's so lovely' I said leaving John to find Avia. 'Avia sweetheart: you did all this for me?' I laughed as she engulfed me with a huge hug.
'You deserve it' she smiled happily wrapping her arms around my much larger pregnant frame than normal. 'I picked and made the cake pretty much on my own' she said proudly as John handed me a knife to cut into it.
'You should do it' I said handing the knife to Avia who looked very excited about the grown up bit of responsibility.
The afternoon was wonderful and what was even more wonderful was had my husband had completely forgiven my crazy antics of the week.
